Ok OK I know spread out all over different threads is some miniseries trivia that I must have locked into my brain... For example I knew something didn't sound quite right about the version of "Beauty" in the miniseries and thankfully Ivory and others cleared it up as it being Louis... what I didn't know was it was also him on "Losing You".. I will say it didn't sound like David but I just figured it was him(shame on me ) I think Im good on the lipsynching(or whatever its called) vs. the actual singing in the movie....Iv answered it when I first began posting...but I am curious as to why they woun't use Davids voice for David singing it in the movie...that seems... well.... weird to me using someone elses voice for the song... My next un-answereds(sp) are these whose voice is Leon's for "SHout" and whose is Jimmys? Bare with me Im on a roll here....was there a reason some songs were not sung in there entirety? Or was it just for time....any and all help is as always appreciated

I think it sounds more natural for the actors to sing the songs as they did for many if not most of the songs performed in the movie. I think if they had lip-synced to the original version it would have sounded obviously fake. Now your next question, "My next un-answereds(sp) are these whose voice is Leon's for "SHout" and whose is Jimmys?" I'm afraid I don't understand.

Well then, the person doing Leon's voice is, I belive, Louis Price. .......... As for Jimmy, I have no reason to doubt that it was the actor who portrayed him. Question, can you hear the actor who portrayed Jimmy Ruffin on the bridge of "Born to Love You"?

as for the part where david steals the microphone and sings ain't too proud, that was lip synching david, as well as my girl, and the way you do the things you do at the studio. on motortown revue songs, i think the actors did sing . i think.

No Stirrer, that was actually the REAL Jimmy Ruffin who provided the singing voice for the actor who played Otis and THAT is who we hear on the bridge of th movie version of "Born to Love You."
