How could I have not noticed before?...at the beginning, when they are at Lover's Lane necking, and hear Joltin' Joe put out the APB on one howlin' Otis Williams, to be heard from within the next 10 minutes, Melvin, Al and Otis are the ones there. They have to get from Lover's Lane to Jo's house to drop of the girls, they're in a rush, its Saturday nite, but somehow they manage to find Richard and PeeWee, as they are with them when they land at the radio station. All before the days of cell phones...what're the chances Richard and PeeWee were that easily findable? Yes, I know...I really NEEDED a life for Christmas, but as you see, I didn't get one

Yep, you're the one! The first person I've met who's actually watched the movie TOO many times!

fiction= miniseries affliction! i also like that the background music was supposed to be doo woppish and ooh baby baby . but as the milk truck pulls up in front of the station, the music soundtrack is a 90's style rock clip. sure sounded authentic !

I noticed that too K2. I guess I have no life either. Well, noticing stuff like that doesn't mean you don't have a life, just that you have very little of it. Just kidding. . But I think my mom picked up on it first. yeah, its that TV magic.

suzanne depasse couldn't use detroit for the show-why, was the hitsville building and motown museum too expensive to rent? they kept using pittsburgh shots and suburbs when the bus went ''south''.

What DePasse and all of them don't realize is that we fans wanted the REAL thing. I mean the Tempts movie was good, but if you look closely, you will find too many inaccuracies. Why couldn't they have had Richard and Pee Qee in the milk truck making out? Why couldn't they have filmed the movie in Detroit? Whatcha see is not whatcha get.

Diva...I've said it before and I'll say it again...if it hadn't been a well-made interesting (should I say FASCINATING?) movie, NO WAY would we have watched it enough times to pick up all the inaccuracies and "movie flubs" that we have. WE would have preferred more historical accuracy and authenticity, but 99% of the viewing public doesn't know the difference.
I don't recall why they said they shot it in Philly instead of Detroit (maybe because the "face" of Detroit was so very altered by the riots)...??...but it was a big hoo-ha at the time.
And YAH, why weren't Richard and PeeWee with them in the milk truck making out? What were THEY up to? ;D ;D

When shooting location scenes you have to get permission from the city and the people in the neighborhood to shoot for an extended period of time. Maybe they couldn't secure the permits to shoot in Detroit from all the parties needed. Theyneeded a location that looked late 1950 early 1960-ish to use as a backdrop and maybe that neighborhood fit the bill and the budget. Detroit knowing what a movie like that could mean, could have priced themselves out of the running.

Huh Diva? You wanted to see Richard in the milk truck making out with Pee Wee?!!
Kalisa, I remember the reason for shooting in Philly was because of the destruction of the riots and because of that dreaded Dutch Elm disease, it had killed a lot of the old trees. Basically what she said was that old Detroit didn't look like old Detroit anymore. Of course never having been there, I have no idea if that's true or not.

LOL!!! Oops! No way! What I meant was, they could have had the Richard making out with a girl and Pee Wee making out with a girl, just like Al, Melvin, and Otis were!
I'm planning on taking a trip to Detroit this summer. I'm really looking forward to it.
