Aba - you have an assignment. Photos, on stage and backstage if possible. Tell the guys about us wanting to have a 'Temptaholics Convention' if you can. Sukkafu and I are looking at possibly New Years in Las Vegas at the Luxor. Anybody else game? If not, we'll look towards 2004.

tdallasw, you are on to something now. Las Vegas for a Temptation concert, hummmm. Now that sounds great. I enjoyed my stay in Vegas a few years ago at The MGM but next time I wanted to stay at Luxor. I would love to go New Years but I'm not on vacation at that time. Summer 2004 sounds better for vacation. I know it's hotter than out there but for the most part we will be inside a cool casino. Not to gamble (right sukka) but for the air conditioning. Also I heard Vegas in the summer is dirt cheap, I wonder why. ;D ;D

warm places are usually cheaper in the summer because everywhere's warm so there's no demand for las vegas- 110-121 degrees in the june- september days.

As much as I would like to report on the show....I will have to defer to JAnebse for that report. I was unable to attend due to a family emergency that needed my attention. It was something that I felt was more important than going to the show. I will report that member is ok and I look forward to their recuperation and my being able to attend a show as soon as possible. All right Jane.....do your Thing!!!!

Family is much more important than any concert. I'm glad that everything is ok with your family member - there will be other times for the Tempts.

Well, I was there. And in the very front row. I could see everything.
But first, a son called earlier in the week and said he was coming in, and I said, "O.K." and thought, "There goes my trip." But then he said he was leaving early Sunday, so I thought, "O.K. I can drive 700 miles and see them that night." Then my daughter called and said she was coming in Monday, and I thought, "There goes my trip," to be followed by, "I can stay Sunday night and then drive another 700 miles back on Monday." And that's what I did.
As I was driving through Houston, an electronic notice said, "Severe weather 150 miles ahead." The sign was right. I've never driven through such torrential rain and fog for six hours straight before. I kept thinking, "A hurricane isn't this bad." But, of course, I wasn't quite alone. I had the Temptations with me. And stress was kept away by their music.
My cell phone rang a few miles outside Mobile, and it was my daughter approaching from another direction. We made it to my house at the same time.
Was the concert worth it? Oh, my, yes. It was terrific.

The Majestic is one of those old grand theaters, and it has been refurbished and glows with grandeur. Reminds me of the Fox Theater of the past in Detroit. The Fox may still look like that, but I haven't been there in a long while. Two complete balconies going up so high one could fly. Side loge boxes. A sky with stars above. The appearance of being outside.
And it seats 2500 people, and they were all there. I went to the "Meet and Greet" and had a wonderful time. The crowd was wildly enthusiastic. The Tempts wore a gold (not the metallic kind) silk shantung or something like that jacket with white shirts, white pants and white shoes. When they came out, the audience just said, "Ooooh" in tones of absolute delight. In all the concerts I have seen they have only once worn the same suits, and, rather surprsingly, that was what Ivory calls the "sherber" suits.
I was so close that when a singer came to the front of the stage, I was afraid he would fall off and into my lap.
Ivory, they sang more songs and did more dances than they did at Riverbend.
And they closed with a complete version of "Losing You" and did the Temptation Walk off the stage. The crowd went wild.
They sang like angels, they danced like Fred Astaire. The concert moved at a professional pace, and every aspect spoke of professional high class entertainers. The audience was awed. That's the only word. There's another aspect you can see in the very best. They are confident and poised. They wear that utter confidence with charm and poise. "We are the Temptations. We are the best male vocal group in the world. We are legendary, and we're going to show you why."
Tex Winters, inventor of the famed Triangle defense, spoke of Michael Jordan's confidence and said, "I just don't see how anyone can be so confident." A reporter in writing of this famed confidence asked MJ, "O.K. Michael, your team is so many points behind and you've only got two minutes, tell me honestly, do you still think you can win." "Yes," said Michael, and the reporter kept inching up the ante until he finally got to 60 points behind and two minutes left. Michael's response was, "I would never let the team get to that point. But, speaking hypothetically, if we ever did, Phil would probably try to take me out so that I wouldn't get hurt because he would know I'd die trying to win. But I would refuse to go out because I know it would be my fault we were so far behind, and I need to be with the fellows till the end."
And that's the Temptations.
