Well, I'm not exactly new, but I'll add to the discussion anyway....... Where you from?Born in Alabama and raised in Tennessee How'd you find us?
I didn't find y'all, you found me! ;D Why do you like the tempts? The variety. So much music by ONE group. Doo-wop, Motown, soul, show tunes, funk, 80's slow jams and modern R&B all in one package. When/How did you get into the tempts?Had a "moment" in Christmas of 1995 but didn't really get into the group until Novemeber of '98 when the movie came out. Found the iMusic Tempts' board through Tempfan's wonderful site, met a bunch of amazing people there and the rest is history.

Where you from? Born NY Raised NJ
How'd you find us? Internet Search
Why do you like the tempts? Combined Talent
When/How did you get into the tempts? I was in an orphanage in 1966 and met a couple that would bring me to their house for the weekend. They would have the Tempts on all the time. I always play their songs for some great memories and now my 8 year old daughter is a big fan. I had to take her to see the Legends show in Vegas last month since the "Temptations" (fake) were part of the line up. She was mad that they sang one song a little to fast but did enjoy the videos of the classis line up.

Rufffan, I've been wanting to see that fake group (hush Mikey!) That's one of the reasons why I'd like to see the Tempts in Vegas so I can see the real group AND their imitators (be quiet Mikey!)
What was your over-all impression of them? How good were they?

Where should I start??? They did have some GREAT classis video clips going during their performance. The David imposter was short, had no glass in the glasses and his hair was.... I don't even know how to describe it. I guess he was trying to get the 'PROCESS" look. This next statement should go under the "Turn On" and "Turn Off" post. His teeth were horrible. The rest of the men were BALD and they sang some of my favorite songs. The most positive thing I can say is that my daughter was in the first seat up against the stage and they did hold her hand and sing to her which she was very happy about. I think I may have expected more. Another statement of disappointment - I would have expected the David imposter to sing the David songs, the Eddie imposter to sing the Eddie songs and so on but that also was not the case. I wish I could have been more positive but back to the Turn On and Turn Off post, I was HONEST.

Well, I'm sure it was interesting if nothing else. It's probably a BAD idea for a bunch of us to go see them. They'd probably get booed off the stage and then we'd be asked to leave.

That is an understatement.
Maybe someone from this site can go there and be "Tempts" consultants.
They are looking for a hair stylist and optometrist from what I understand.....

I'll still add to this conversation, even though I've been here for a year. Where are you from? Georgia. My family is from Greece and I lived there for two years. Great experience. How'd you find us? I found the iMusic board in 1999 while searching for information on the Tempts. After the iMusic board started dying, Ivory created a new TemptsInfo and posted the link over there. I followed the link. Why do you like the Tempts? Their music is classic, I never get tired of it, it never gets old. I love their variety and the intricate five-part harmonies. When/How did you get into the Tempts? I knew about the Tempts before the movie, but I knew nothing about their history. All I knew was that they were an oldies group and I liked a few of their songs. But I really started getting into them after I learned more about their history and started discovering more of their songs. This was after the miniseries aired in 1998.

Well - you all know where I'm originally from right? (smile) I live in the suburbs of Washington DC. I'm divorced and have one child - a fourteen-year-old daughter - Mecca Joy.
I found you all from an Internet search. I was trying to learn more info. on the actors that played in the movie - more info. on the original Tempts - and I was trying to find the Anthology CD by the original Tempts. I added the CD to my wish list at Amazon. Anybody know who may have the CD in stock right now? I guess that thing is a hot tamale these days.
By doing the search I found that website w/the Eddie/David interview and I found this site. I am glad I found both.
I love a lot of the old slow songs and music - and I love to listen to the jazz station when I'm in the car.
And finally - I love the Temptations' movie.
It is my pleasure to make y'all's acquaintance. I've already shared and learned alot.
Thanks for the warm welcome.

Suga....I'm from NE DC and my parents still reside there. Welcome to the club. In regards to the original anthology if you don't find it you might be better served getting the box set, Emperors of Soul a five disc set. I have the anthology on vinyl. But the box set contains all the old songs and it brings you almost up to date minus the last four cds or so. We have a good group of folks around here if you have real trouble finding something you got to have let me know. We will help you get it.

love the tempts- raised in a musical family - we played records everyday and mom sang to us and to records- watched ed sullivan without fail every sunday- saw supremes, tempts, tops. got my first motown record when i was 9-i second that emotion. my second soul record was it's your thing. then my jackson 5 records, rare earth, then stevie wonder, etc. saw lady sings the blues.
love the tempts for 30 plus years. saw the miniseries in 1998, then saw it for sale in dec 2001 in target for 6 bucks- the shortened version. i enjoyed it so i looked up the tempts and went to see them in jan- 2002- then saw the board and made friends with great folks like you!
