Since most of you know that Sukkafu and I must have been separated at birth - most of this won't surprise you. Where are you from? I was born in Washington, DC. Raised in Capitol Heights (Seat Pleasant) MD - right outside North East DC area - and graduated from Fairmont Heights High School in 1974. Attended UNC-Greensboro and then married - husband was in the Air Force. During my married years I lived in Cheyenne, Wyoming; Minot, ND; Guam; and Alamogordo, NM. Got divorced in '85 and moved to Charlotte, NC - my mom's home town. How did you find us?Web searches for Tempts sites brought me to the iMusic board, then the miniseriesaholic site. I was hooked ;D Why do you like the Tempts?I fell in love with their style, their dancing, and their harmonies way back in the early sixties. They had class - as did all the Motown acts. I still love them for the same reasons - impeccable style and grace; talent beyond comparison. When/How did you get into the TemptsI grew up with the Motown Sound. Like Sukkafu, my first Motown record was also "I Second That Emotion". (BTW Stephen - you had to be a little younger than 9 then) I was REALLY into the Temptations, The Supremes and The Miracles before the Jackson 5 came along and like most teenaged Black girls - fell for those 'teen idols' for a while, but never stopped loving my Tempts. I bought every 45 they came out with.

Where are you from?Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY - How did you find us?After seeing the movie, went on the Internet to find out more about the Temptations and found the old IMusic board. After that I just followed the links to other Tempt sites - the rest is history...... ;D Why do you like the Tempts?I like their style, showmanship, grace and class, as well as the precision in their steps - nobody "stepped" like the Temptations..... :dancing: When/how did you get into the Tempts?Well, being a child of the Motown era and growing up in a musically eclectic household, I had no choice.... ;D My very first memory of a Motown song was Little Stevie Wonder's "Fingertips" (I still have my Mom's 45 of it too). The next one was "My Girl" and I've been hooked ever since....... temptsinfo.com/smilies/wtg.gif

Where you from?
Born in North Carolina. Live in Virginia.
How'd you find us?
Out of necessity. When the Imusic Board and the Yahoo Clubs went haywire, we had to go some place, right? Ivory was good enough to invite us over here to her place.
Why do you like the tempts?
Because they are just plain thrilling......all 19 of them. I like the way the sing, the way they dance, the way they look.......I like "The Way They Do the Things They Do" ;-)
When/How did you get into the tempts?
Um.......back in 1965. "My Girl" was my first '45.

Where you from? Born and raised in the Bronx, NY How'd you find us? I followed the cookie trail from iMusic Why do you like the tempts? The Temptations set the standard for all groups who came BEFORE, yes BEFORE and after them. Vocal groups from the 1950's like the Cadillacs, Five Satins and even the Channels patterned the style of the Temptations in dance, harmonies and dress today in 2003. When/How did you get into the tempts? When my parents split, my dad left behind his Temptations' record collection. When I joined an acapella group in high school, I used those LP's to study and learn harmonies which I applied to the group. Although I had seen the Temptations in Ed Sullivan and the TCB Special in 1969, I became aware of who the Temptations were in 1978 as a group and individuals. curet30 - mypages.netopia.com/channels

WHERE ARE YOU FROM? I was born and raised in Washington, DC. Grad from Mckinley Tech HS in 68 and went to the College of Southern Idaho and the University of Georgia, grd. in 72-73
HOW DID YOU FIND US? I was just playing around on the net trying to learn how to use it and put in Temps and found you. I am so glad I did.
WHY DO YOU LIKE THEM? For me they represent everything I wanted to be growing up in 60s America.
WHEN DID YOU GET INTO THEM? The moment I first heard them on Meet The Temptations. My Mom loved them and Marvin Gaye. She went to HS with MPG and Elgin Baylor in DC so music has been a great part of our lives since I was a child. My aunt said i wouldn't go to sleep unless they put some music on!

Thanks Aba21 for your kind offer. I just might have to break down and buy the set you suggested – for I am looking forward to hearing some of those old songs.
Of course – I have many of the Tempts albums. I have three of Eddie’s after he went solo. I have the three the Tempts made right before Paul got sick, as in “Puzzle People – Sky’s The Limit (Was Paul singing on Sky’s The Limit) & Psychedelic Shack”.
I got the Tempts live album, and three or four others, to include “Memories”, but I am missing the one w/”Since I Lost My Baby” on it, I think. That song was, IMO, just as powerful as “My Girl.”
We lived in Fort Hood, Texas when that album was out. My parents used to have and go to parties when those tunes were out. And man – did they love them and party hearty off of them. I used to sneak out of my bedroom and sit at the top of the stairs and watch the grown ups dancing and carrying on. And this was in late 1963 – 1967 – so the Tempts were really – really hot then. They were playing the Supremes and everyone else back then 2.
Thanks again.

Why do you like The Tempts? They are so unique, stylish, smooth, and there music gets better with time.
When/How did you get into The Tempts? In the early 60's when my parents use to have the house parties and all kinds of music would be playing. My parents use to take my brother and me to various shows seeing many great artists including The Tempts. It's a big part of everyday life, The Temptations. ;D

Okay, the board has changed, but it's all good.
I am not going to actuall answer all the questions right now, but I will say that I am a tempts fan, because the tempts make me feel great. I've never heard a group so good and so talented in R & B. It's really a group of soloists who sing nice harmony. so groups are about harmony and some group are about solo singing. this group is about both. They can also dance their butts off.

Hey, Elvis84...I like Elvis, too!! ;D Okay....I haven't done this yet! Where are you from?I'm from Colorado, the armpit of America. Just teasing. How'd you find us?I was reading on *another* board about the "Temptsinfo" board and I came looking for you! Why do you like the tempts?Hmmmm..... they look good, they sound good.... they move like no one else..... timeless songs. This doesn't even cut it as far as an answer goes. When/How did you get into the tempts?
I have always been, what I would call, a fan.... When someone would ask me favorite group, I would say the Temptations. (Elvis would be my favorite singer answer.) But I was never really "fanatical" until the 90s. It was when I learned more about them... more about the adversity, the tragedy...don't know why, but I admired them 100 times more after that. After that, I had UTMOST respect! ;D Peach

Born and raised in NYC now living in Montgomery County, MD. I remember the Tempts growing up. My parents loved and played their music all the time. I remember picking out Paul on the "Cloud Nine" album. After the miniseries peaked my curosity for all things Temptations I called NBC for a copy of it- visited the Imusic site, saw the mess that was going on there and the old Paul Williams BBS, started my own Paul Williams BBS - and was glad Ivory put her own thing together too. Why do I love the Tempts? Good music is good music! forum.asiaco.com/paulwilliams
