:clapping: Whew hooooo!!!!! Happy fifth anniversary to all of my fellow movie fans!!!! :clapping: And to all of the NON-fans of the movie, my condolences for having to listen to us gush about it now for half a decade!!! Whether you are a fan or not, you can't deny the impact it had on the history of the group. It brought in a new generation of fans and while some more seasoned fans often hold us neophytes in disdain, they can better believe we're gonna do our part in carrying the Classic Tempts' memory well onto the next century. The group had it's first platinum selling album and won their third Grammy after the movie aired and I can only believe that it was the miniseries that played a crucial role in that. Ok, enough of me sounding stupid. No matter what you think of the movie AT LEAST it brought all of us together and THAT is the MOST IMPORTANT thing to celebrate!!!! So get out there and PARTY!!!!!!!!!

Where were you when you first saw the movie?
I remember seeing commercials for it and it was being advertised as coming from the same people who did "The Jackson's" miniseries, so I thought it was worth checking out.
Before the movie, I had practically no idea who the Tempts were. My earliest memory of them was a compilation set that was advertised when I was about 10. It featured songs from BOTH the Tempts and the Tops and subsequently, I couldn't tell you who sang which song. My big joke is that I sat down to watch the movie and patiently waited to hear them sing "that 'Sugar Pie Honey Bunch' song." :laughing
Well, I never got to hear "Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch" but what I did see knocked my socks off! The first night was thrilling enough and by the second night, I was hooked.
Now I had no clue about ANYTHING. I had no idea that only one of the original members was still living. I became esp. fond of Melvin primarily because he was the bass singer but I'd be lying if I said that the fact that DB Woodside is hot had nothing to do with it. As the movie came to it's conclusion, my heart sank further and further as I watched the characters die off, one by one. But I took solace in the fact that Blu must still be alive ........... I mean the movie only had five minutes left. I decided I would search this man down and proclaim my undying loyalty and affection for him.
And then "Melvin" went after thos d*mn short ribs!!!!!! :crying ..................... Oh I lost it, I sobbed uncontrollably, the cats couldn't figure out WHAT my problem was. And if that weren't bad enough, I woke up in the middle of the night so emotionally disturbed that I couldn't sleep. I felt so TERRIBLE that I had had an opportunity to be a fan of this man and missed it. As pathetic as it is to admit, I would carry this guilt with me until I was able to confess it to Otis ............. the real Otis, not the one in the movie. He told me (gosh this sounds so pathetic) that Melvin was in a better place and not to feel bad. That helped me a lot.
But after waking up in the middle of the night so affected, there was only one thing I could do ..................... get on the Internet and find out as much about this group as I could.
I didn't find much. In those days there was no TemptsInfo.com, no RonTyson.com, no Temptations.com but there was a "Tempfan" site (http://www.freeyellow.com/members4/temptationsonline/index.html ) and that was ALL I needed! On the site was a link to a message board. Once I found that message board a whole new world opened up for me. I met some of the dearest people in the world to me through that board and established bonds that will never be broken.
It's pretty weird to admit it, but the simple act of sitting down to watch a movie literally changed my life.
A movie was made about a group of singers ............. and my life has been better because of it. (gosh, I sound like a LOSER!!!!)
Anyway, that's my story. What's yours?

This Movie has so much meaning & purpose to Me! I've seen it When It came out, but, 12-09-2002, I had surgery for cancer with an 8 wk. reovery period! It was shown shortly after, and I taped it on TiVo & VCR! I'm not used to being home Daytime, and found the soaps repitious! Thank God! I found the Movie on VH1! I know that Iv seen it @ least 100 times if not more! I can honestly say It is The Most Entertaining & informative Movie I've ever watched!(even though some parts are fictional)! It kept Me company & Awestrucked! I don't know if One can Wish A mini-series "Happy Anniversary", But, I would like to say "Thank You!" to the entire Cast & Fantastic Actors for bringing So Much Pleasure & Enjoyment to So Many People!

Oh yeah ......... that's the funny thing about it. The soaps were repetative (I know what you mean!) but we can watch the movie 80 million times! Over and Over! I know there was a time myself and others were watching at least parts of it EVERY day. That seems hard for me to believe now but it's true.

Well I 've always been a big fan of the Tempts and Paul Williams before *THE MOVIE* aired. I knew that all of the original members had passed on except Otis....and can you believe I ACTUALLY knew who Al was BEFORE the miniseries. But afterwards... I was really hooked on the Tempts, I had to watch that darn movie at least twice a week and I just about ran my friends and family CRAZY. In all, I'm glad that it was made because it brougth forth a new appreciation for the Tempts and for Motown in general ( and it also angered a WHOLE lot of people too, but hey , that's their cup of kool-aid, not mine).I love me some Tempts ;D........ I think I need to join T&PWA ......Temptations& Paul Williams Annoymous.... *~ :(Hi.... my name is c5... and I'm a Tempts/Paul-aholic~*

What's yours? :(I forgot to mention that I've been a Temptation's fan from their Begining! I was just starting High School, and went to dances as often as I could(7 nights a week in the Summer time!) Motown Ruled; especially The Tempts! The D.J.s referred to us as "Motown Brats"! I've always taken that as a compliment! I still sleep with "Levi" from the Four Tops; a little stuffed Puppy that sings "Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch/I can't help Myself" when you squeeze it's paw! I always say Levi sings Me to sleep!

I was in Japan when it happened...the movie was out on Video and a guy at work watched it and let me borrow it. I was shocked and amazed. I had no idea a group went through so much. I also had no idea they were still around. Well needless to say I only watched the movie that one time in 98. Then it was Little miss JOrdan that renewed my interest. I purchased the dvd or James did sometime in 2001. When I returned from Kuwait last year in June Jordan wanted to watch it everyday. She adored Paul and Eddie and of course David. SHe loved the scenes where they were performing and everyday she would ask to watch it. So from then I was hooked. I knew that "true story" some things were true and some not so I had to know as much as I could about those Tall Talented Tempting Temptations. And that of course brought me here to you wonderful people.
