Okay, okay, I am a the kill-joy around here, I know. But that movie should never have happened. It is a bungled mess ... Everything shown may or may not be true ... even the make ups were terrible ... In my opinion, it was a lousy production -- sloppily done, amateurish, and unprofessional. I am still not sure whether it was a docudrama, a fictional drama, or a fairy tale. The only good thing: truly great actors, and I hope they all will get the attention they deserve.

There is no way in the world to tell the story of the Temptations in four hours. It should have been a week long event like Roots or something. BTW....IU didn't think it was that bad as far as how it was made....my only issues were with the content of the thing.

Happy 5th Anniversary to the Temptations Movie Addicts! Whether you agree or agree to disagree about the movie, one of the most positive things to come out of it was the meeting of the "Temptations minds", which never would have happened without the movie! P.S. Anyone here ever wonder what has NOT been discussed about this group

::)It was based on Otis' book & selected Memory! But, It Was Still A Great Movie! It gave Us some perspective of How Things Were!(Truth, part fictional or Over Dramatic)! But, It did bring everyone here Together ! This is A Fantastic Group of People Who Love The "Temptations"; And, although almost All of Us Don't Know each other Personally, We have a Common Bond & would Help Each Other anyway We Can! I am Honored to be a Part of Such a Caring & Sincere Group of People! I also think The Actors deserve A Whole Lot of Respect; They Have Mine!

Wintender, all you say is true. But as you may expect from me -- there's the "but." I truly think that a group as the Temptations (with some historical import) deserves a higher quality production to have their story told. Just my opinion.

Anyone notice that The Miracles' "Bad Girl" is playing when Otis and Al are in the barber shop? I watched it today and said, "I recognize that song!"
Not to mention opening the door to Motown, the movie also tuned my ears for Doo-Wop as well...

Fellow Tempfans, think back on all of the movies made by Motown or people from Motown and see which one was of high quality. They were all made on a very low budgets. Case in point, how many Big name stars were cast in the movie? Leon, Obba Babatunde, Jennifer Lewis, the dude that played Norman Whitfield and the brotha who played Blu. All the other cast members were unknowns until the movie.

Bet You can't tell that I Adore Smokey (wink). I go to see Him Everytime He's In A.C.! He did get Everyone's attention, & Brought Tears to Almost Everyone's Eyes during His Performance! Of course it was a funeral; That probably helped I do think He was Sincere! Have a Tempting Monday!

I seen "Otis" in another movie before but i forgot the name. alot of people in this movie were in other movies. so they were not "unknowns" until this movie. ;D

I truly think that a group as the Temptations (with some historical import) deserves a higher quality production to have their story told. Just my opinion. "I" believe that the movie served a very good purpose and while it may not have been the "best", or what some would've liked it to be, it still helps in keeping the Temptations' legacy alive. Afterall, without the movie, many young people(such as myself) would know nothing about the group, and therefore, we wouldn't have ever felt the need to learn more about them. Maybe the movie doesn't tell the complete story, but it does cause people to search for the truth, and in the process, we learn many things the movie didn't tell. So when a simple made-for-TV movie, with all its flaws, can do something as great as that...it's a good thing.

I'm gonna do a little strip tease at this tempts party. Good! I figure if we charge $5 a head than we'll have enough money to keep the board ad-free for a year!!!! temptsinfo.com/smilies/wtg.gif
