We're all losers here Ivory because the movie totally changed my life too!
I, too, fell in LOVE with Blu! He just rocked and I was SO SAD that he died! He almost made it! But yeah, I started sobbing uncontrollably and I cried that hard for about the first 8 times I saw it. That Christmas I got EOS and was kinda like "Um... Ok. I know 3 songs that they sing..." but then I started to kinda remember the songs on the movie and I found them on EOS and listened to those songs and those songs only! Anyway, my birthday was later on that May and my brother got the movie for me! I was SO happy because there was a display I guess with The Temptations and The Wedding Singer, and my brother couldn't decide on which one to get me, so he finally decided on The Temptations. Thank GOD!!! That's when I started to listen to EOS a LOT! Anyway, after a while I decided to look for info and stuff on the internet, which was weird because I never really ever went on the internet and was kinda scared with some of the stuff Yahoo turned up when looking for "the Temptations". But i found my way around all right! Anyway, I was really happy when I started learning things about Temptations not really IN the movie because they were SO COOL! And then I started talking with you fine folks, and that's how I am where I am today!

:DHey Ivory! "Sugar Pie-Honey Bunch" is on the radio right Now  I remember The "Tempts & Tops" Special On TV! The One where They were All on Stage, singing Each Others Songs back & forth! I'm Still looking for a Video of It! I'm pretty sure There is One! ???Does anyone know if there is? It was A Great Show! |

Well in that case I'm in GOOD company!  and was kinda scared with some of the stuff Yahoo turned up when looking for "the Temptations". :laughing winetender, I'm not sure but I have been fortunate to hear the Tempts sing "Can't Help Myself" on a tape I have of them singing it the Superbow (and Terry did a great job btw) and of course getting to hear Theo sing it live is awesome too!

Five years! Man time flies! I miss those days too. November 1998, I was in my second year at MWC, my first year in New Hall, room 112 and I had the room to myself. When I moved in in August, my mother said it looked like I had my own apartment. it was a nice and cozy place too and I love the way I had it set up.
Anyway, I saw the commercials for it and thought it'd be interesting. So since I already tape anything that interests me (I'm already at about 34 tapes for this year). I opened a new tape for it and pressed record at the right time. What's interesting is, in Fredericksburg, we get both affiliates from Richmond and DC. Both NBC stations at the college that night weren't as clear as I wanted but one was more clear than the other. So, I taped the first half of the miniseries from the DC station and the second from the Richmond one.
Prior to the airing, the only songs I knew were The Temptations were "My Girl" and "Just My Imagination" since I had those on a Motown compilation. After watching the first half, I couldn't believe the songs I heard were the Tempts and I was amazed by the dancing.
The second half, I missed the very beginning where the date was flashed on the screen but that was like 5 seconds. I was a little upset about that but it was ok. I enjoyed what I saw. It was tough waiting for the second installment! Why do they half to split them up on different days like that?
Anyway, thats all it took. I watched it over and over and tried looking for Tempts mp3's on Scour not having any luck. Then I found my friend had their Greatest Hits... I taped it and listened to it everywhere I went with my walkman. As I said before, the Temptations miniseries was the gateway to me loving Motown and helped shape me today.
I still miss those days in '98.

It is hard to believe that it has been 5 years. I had been a Tempts fan my whole life, but had sort of "lost touch" with the group until the movie came out. It rekindled the flame and made me a big fan all over again. After that, I couldn't get enough of them. Then when I started searching for more information on them on the Internet, it eventually led me to this Board. I will always be very grateful for the wonderful relationships I have developed with the people on this Board... and I have the Temptations movie to thank for bringing moments of great joy and lots of rousing, yet friendly discussions with the Board members. Here's to the Temptations Movie and also... here's to US!!  |

I just signed on and have to tell you guys, after seeing the "Five Heartbeats" and "The Jacksons' Story" I knew someone would do the Temps story. I read the first book five times to make sure all the stuff I had heard over the years was accurate. I t was a long time comig but I was a child in a candy store when it came on the first time. Unfortunately, I was in Saudi Arabia for the premiere but my wife taped it for me. I watch it at least onvce a week now, and have turned on several of my younger co-workers as weel as my own children to the Temps. I have the "Emporer's of Soul" set so all of the songs are on htere. I have and will always love the Temptations

Winetender, the show you are referring to was Motown 25, which was also Ron's first appearance as a Temptation. It aired in May of 1983. I have it on VHS but I am in Korea and it is my home in the states.
