I NEVER EVER cry at/for a movie, UNTIL I watch the Tempts mini-series. I cried at all the sad scenes everyone has already mentioned, all the deaths, David's dismissal from the group, Paul and Mel at the piano, how about when O comes home to have his mom tell 'em she has cancer, thats a big tear-jerker, My Girl at the end; but on the flip side, after watching it a few times, the happy parts, mainly Ed Sullivan show(at least I think it was the ES show they sang My Girl on, the one of them on b/w tv?) that's also sad, because you see how happy they all are, and you can tell they truly love each other and love what they do, but you just know it won't last no matter how hard you want it too!! But I'd have to say the saddest scene out of all of 'em, is the Paul and Mel piano scene, that was just acted out so perfectly. Paul disrespects his wife just before singing, but while he sings, she approaches him, and he reaches his hand out to as if to say, "I'm sorry honey, please forgive me", and your heart just goes out to him and his wife, plus the look on Melvin's face just tears me up inside. Also the look on Eddies face when it first happens, is like "Oh NO! Not again/not here, please poopie, don't do this, just tell me what can I do to help you?" The scene overall is just However, the scene I cry on most, is Blu's funeral, when he goes into the kitchen, and then Momma Rose and O go in after him, and you hear O say, "Oh Blu" and you can just hear the despair and torture in his voice, like not you too. then they cut to Smokey's song, if that just doesn't touch your heart and soul, then there must be something wrong with ya.

I don't like the scene where paul is singing at the piano at all. It just looks that it (for once in my life) had to be somewhere in the movie no matter what. I almost never watch that scene. It's boring. It would have been better if they had for example replaced Psychedelic Shack part with Paul singing For once in my life in a concert. Now the scene just looks stupid. "I feel pretty bad so I'm gonna sing a song.

How can you NOT like that scene??!! :nono :nono :faint: In this one scene, your heart goes out to: Melvin, Paul, Momma Rose, Paul's wife, and others in the room. This scene we also see Otis step forward to go and stop Paul, and Eddie extends his hand/arm outward to block/stop him, and gives him the look, "You're not going to get Paul, I'm the one always there for him, you're not gonna be the hero. Just let him go on, I'M RESPONSIBLE FOR PAUL!!!!". :crying WE MISS YOU EDDIE & PAUL, AND DAVID AND MELVIN!!!!!!!!! :crying :crying :crying

The saddest parts of the movie to me is 1) Pauls death because it actually really happened 2) When Eddie was singing Just my Imagination looking over at Richard. you could tell he was missing his friend 3) When Blu said "Have a Drink with your friend and last Melvins Funeral. I creid each time.

I think the paino scene is painful and at the same times it shows Paul's downward spiral...you're right...it did look stupid...Paul made himself look stupid and uncontrollable...but at the same time he was pourin his heart out...to see that transformation is a tear-jerker

For me, it's the end...when they're all ontsage one last time to perform "My Girl" before an empty auditorium.
That scene is a wonderful reminder that -- before the personal tragedies, health problems, drug addictions, legal troubles, jail time, failed relationships and untimely deaths -- they were just five young men with their whole lives ahead of them, doing what they loved...performing beautiful music together.
They had no idea what super-stardom was about to lay before them...or how everything would change.

After all, he lost these people too. You can't be in a group and tour with people and not become extremely close to them. The choice to have Al's voice eminating from the balcony was just perfect. Alan Arkush is clearly one heck of a director... Ed

The part where I shed tears is at the very end with the 'My Girl' reprise. After all they had been through and all gone now except for Otis, they look so young, fresh and unscathed in this scene. Almost like they were angels from heaven performing one last time in all of their purple glory. And when Otis says 'Temptations ....Forever' I usually to cry like a baby because it's 'over'...
