I just know this has already been said but the part that always get me (and I cry at NOTHING..LOL) is the end of the movie when the Temps are performing at the Fox Theater. As soon as I hear Al's voice from the balcony, it just gets me. It only gets worse as I watch the Temps performing onstage. I just imagine Otis as the only person left alive out of all five of those performers and it just destroys me... I'm with you, Ivory. That movie is what got me into the Temptations. I saw it, got hooked, and just HAD to know as much as possible about the Temptations... I wonder how many more of us got hooked that way? Ed I agree, All5. He didn't earn an Emmy for his direction for nothin'... I also just love the way Leon played it. He tells them off and then stops himself to smile - so that it looks like he doesn't care. As he turns around, that smile subtely turns to "what am I gonna do now". Then, he catches himself, sticks his chest out and struts off to his car. All subtle quick movements - I know - but all just brilliant. Now, that's acting.. Ed Man, you sum up all my emotions with your words! Exactly! To a tee...you've stolen my point of view completely Ed Actually, if you asked me the way he ran away was kind of punkish. He ran with a gayish stride. ROFL ,,,my dad always manages to point out when they look gay...watch how David looks at Flynn after Otis tells him to get out of David's apartment...watch how Eddie runs after David after the racists pass by in that black truck

No, No, Noooo way was anyone insinuating that David and Eddie were gay!! It was just the facial gestures and physical mannerisms that the actors used in those particular scenes. Re-watch the movie! After getting the pink slip, watch how Leon runs away to his car. Kinda girlish in his stride. In the scene where Ruffin and Flynn are doing drugs, Otis and Blue show up, check out the look Ruff gives Flynn when they ask Flynn to leave. They just acted kinda sissified in their mannerisms acting out the scenes. That's all!! The way I hear it David and Eddie in real life were some real Playa's No sugar added to those guys!! Totally sugar-free!! I hope this helps your "Ball of Confusion" Happy New Year

Whew! Thank You for clarifying That! I was scared for A Moment There! I thought David was trying to Keep Some Dignity & Pride, but You could see The disapointment & Hurt He must have felt! As for Flynn, My interpretation(Did I spell that right?) was that He was David's Flunky/Dealer!

To Me, I took it to mean That Eddie didn't want His Friend to Get Shot or Hurt! Actually, I thought It was Very Brave of Them to defend Their Rights; especially at That time in History!

He may have been at the start but those kind of relationships have a way of reversing themselves so that the so called flunky becomes the person in charge because of what he has over the other person and FLynn had David for a while.....so much so he became his manager and I'm sure that didn't come from David it came from Flynn cause he was then in control of what David did. That is a very common occurance in that business when outsiders fill a person's head with nonsense like they could do a better job than the professionals they have working for them....and it is then that things usually start to go downhill.....So even though it may appear that David was still in charge....to me that was not the case at all.

Hey Ivory, long time no see! Hey everybody else. My name attests to the fact that Eddie was/is my favorite Tempt. I'm 63 years old and as far as I'm concerned there has never been a Tempt lineup to top the Classic Five. When I first saw the "movie", I was dissappointed that they showed no footage of the Classic Five. I was reminded how much I had loved them years ago. I could not get their music out of my head, but would picture the actors singing the song. What bothered me was that I couldn't remember what EDDIE, DAVID, PAUL, MELVIN and OTIS looked like. In searching the internet, I found photos, videos, and the original message boards.

Lots of sad scenes, definitely David's dismissal is one of them. But at the same time is one of the most memorable scenes. The freeze-frame-shot of the four remaining Tempts' facial expressions was pure poetry. They were together, but each looking off in a different direction, indicating their varied feelings and emotions. It should have been captured in an oil painting or something.
