Okay, MY turn to play king mixer...do any white guys or gals belong on this list...like, say, Van Morrison, Richard Manuel, Eric Burdon, Steve Winwood, Charlie Rich, Steve Marriott, Joe Cocker, Bonnie Bramlett, Mick Jagger, the great Bill Medley from the Righteous Bros., etc.?

I've been on the fence about this one for YEARS. Sometimes I'll say yes, other times I'll be like, NO WAY.
Right now I'm leaning toward a very select few...Eric Burdon, definitely Bill Medley, Tony Joe White, Richard Manuel, a young Steve Winwood back in his Spencer Davis Group days, Van Morrison, Charlie Rich...& *maybe* Alex Chilton when he was with The Boxtops...
...and that's pretty much it. Some people might say Rod Stewart -- I never dug him too much. Jagger? Maybe, maybe not...I think he was much more soulfull back when the Stones were more blues oriented...
Am I forgetting anybody?

I like Bon Scott, But not more than Brian Johnson. Just a taste thing. But Bon Scott was a fire starter for sure.

See now, I'll debate you on that one, Cheech. Bon Scott was *the man*. He sounded like the devil incarnate. In fact, in his honor, I'm eating a DEVIL SQUARE right now. :laughing Brian Johnson just sounds like a Brit with constipation. And I'll fight you to the death! HEE! Budrocket, gotta agree with Tony Joe White.... for a long time, I didn't even know the guy was white! Stevie Winwood, for sure. Hey, how about this one.... Daryl Hall. I saw him on an A&E "Live Request" type show and he sang "Me & Mrs. Jones." It was STUNNING.... he blew me away. Peach

23. Jefferey Osborne 24. The O'Jays 25. Tom Jones......yeah that's right Tom Jones. It's funny you should mention Jeffrey Osbourne *very close* to Tom Jones...... I think Jeffrey Osbourne sounds *sort of* like Tom Jones on "Back in Love Again" when he was with LTD. In fact, I think Tom could do a great job covering that one. Peach

It's not a color thing, it's more a SOUTHERN thing. <g>
> Stevie Winwood, for sure.
Yes, but specifically when he was with the Spencer Davis Group. He kind of shied away from R&B after that. But man, if you ever get a chance to hear the SDG's version of "Georgia On My Mind," it's unbelievable...especially knowing he was only 16 at the time!

Yeah, I guess he's got some "blue eyed soul" cache, but I never warmed up to those guys...they kind of give me the creeps.

They give you the creeps? :laughing Well, John Oates gives *me* the creeps...with that silly mustache he used to wear. I'm thinking specifically of "She's Gone." And the version of "Me & Mrs. Jones" I saw.... I was applauding that one, and it takes a lot to make me clap at a TV. Peach

RANCE ALLEN is by far the greatest singer i've ever heard......and if you've ever heard him sing.....you know why.
The stuff that brotha can do with his voice is not only ridiculous but should be outlawed in all 50 states.
This cat hits notes that Eddie & Pops couldn't hit combined......and in the same breath out shout and sing Dennis, David, Ali or who ever out the building......this brotha is cold
I know Cheech likes 'em dirty......well brotha they don't get no dirtier than Rance Allen....you would do yourself a musical dissfavor by not listening to him blow...
Rance Allen is actualy one of Bo Hendersons & Pops (Glenn Leonard) musical idols
i cannot say enough about Rance.....you just gotta hear him
