The incident ABA is talking about is rumored to be what put Ali out of the group in 96.

Since i feel i have to defend myself here goes. First off Richard had My Girl taken from him in 1991 before leaving the group when "My Girl" was re released as a single to go with the movie of the same name. It started with the recording of the video in which Ali sings lead half way through the song. Theo didn't start singing it until Ali left the group. Theo Joined the group in December of 1992 taking over for Richard on a tour of Japan. The tour ran from December 18-24. For more info on this tour. www3.airnet.ne.jp/junco/Ali-e/japantour/92.htmlI then attended the New Years Eve Dec. 31 1992 show in San Francisco (have photos with Theo in the group!) There was also a TV interview done that day with the group with Theo as the new member. I remember it because i was shocked to see that i was going to see a new member and not Richard. (Don't remember if i recorded tv spot) That night Theo even helped Ali with the Motown Song which they were doing in concert at the time. In 93 i saw the group 3 times (Ali, Theo, Ron, Otis, and Melvin) and once in 94 same except no Melvin who was ill like i said all concerts featured Theo doing "I will always love you" Also in 94 group recorded EOS songs early in year as set was released in Sept of 94 to go with star on walk of fame which Theo attended. End of year Sept to Dec they recorded songs for Berry Gordy album and Motown comes home album. Saw them in April 1995 Ray was in Group by then and they ended concert with an Tear Jerking Encore of Broken Pieces with Ray adding Melvins name in the spoken intro and Ali & Theo singing even better than on the CD version. It was not until 96 that Ali left the group after Harry joined here's a photo of Ali Theo Ron Otis Harry www.ckponline.com/Temptations.jpg The first time i saw them without Ali was July 96. Richard after leaving The Temps took Dennis place in his group which was an offspring of Edwards, Ruffin, Kendricks as i stated and as David Sea Fan has verified (Hi DSF!) So unless Richard did some one shot deal he was not with the group after 92. That must have been when Dennis was doing a play..when Richard sang with Dennis group. Tempfan is right That's why Woodson started to sing the song at David's funeral. it was around the time of MY Girl 2..movie. Woodson wore the RUFFIN-GLASSES in the video.

In the end, I think it is fun to have 6 different groups out there and it is the music and the shows that should be critiqued. What can definitely be said is that Dennis' show stands on its own. Richard's show stands on its own as well. In my humble opinion, they are both better than Otis' show right now. I agree completely with all of part A and at least part of part B...since I haven't seen Richard's group I can't speak to that, but I really do enjoy the Review a lot and they do stand on their own. I would love to see Richards group and Glenn's group and Ali, with his group, with another group, or solo .

Still surprised Richard left the Temptations. Did money have anything to do with it, arguing with Otis? Or was he frozen out. ...these and other questions will be answered on the next episode of...

I taped LENO in MAY 1991 with Ali Woodson wearing the "Ruffin" glasses and had his hair processed too. The Temptations wore white "dinner jackets", white tuxedo shirt and black bow tie along with black slacks. They open with their medley of 'The Way You Do The Things You Do', 'Ain't Too Proud To Beg' and RICHARD sings lead to 'My Girl'. They closed their set with 'Soul To Soul'. However, Ali Woodson wore the glasses and processed hair BEFORE David Ruffin passed away.

Our friend Curet is right Ali had the look before he started singing the song in concert in preparation for the making of the video. Ali didn't start singing the song until later in 91 after The video, single and movie were released later that year. This part is speculation but In regard to the remote possibility that Richard and Theo sung together (which i still have never heard of and no one has ever verified) It is possible that maybe this event happened in not in 94 but in 92 before Theo took Richard's place Melvin was out many times in the late 80's 90's till his death. Who knows who Otis had Theo in mind to replace back then? Perhaps while Theo was preparing to join the group Ali missed a show or two and so he wouldn't be left with only three temps on stage (if Melvin was out) Otis inserted Theo in his place to see how it would work out? This would explain Theo singing My Girl as he took Ali's place for a night. Some Temps trivia for ya Ali and Harry have done a track together as they Theo & Ron (not sure on Ron) did You're precious love on an juanita dailey album.

Interesting bit of trivia tempfan. I'll have to look for that.
So do we think Theo was out on stage singing with the group in '92 or '91, whenever we're talking about? Seems weird considering how long it took Joe to get out on stage. He spent so long behind the curtain.

Ivory, The only things I know for sure about Theo and The Temps in 1992 is that he did join the group in December and on New Year's Eve was on stage the entire show from start to finish and not only sung all the songs but did all the moves and steps on every song. Here's a link for more on the Juanita Dailey, Temps song including the entire track near bottom of page to listen to. Ali shares lead with Juanita with Guys backing them up. www3.airnet.ne.jp/junco/Ali-e/discography/review/alone/10-juanita.html
