Hi Guys. Thought I'd drop you a line from over the water in England
Where you from?
A little town called Telford in Shropshire, England
How'd you find us?
Search engine. Like most folk I was looking to validate the movie which I saw ages ago but I've just bought on DVD.
Why do you like the tempts?
Is it possible not to like them? Harmonies unsurpassed in modern music. Their vocal range is only matched by their range in songs. When Eddie sings 'Just my Imagination' it still sends shivers down my spine 30 years after release.
When/How did you get into the tempts?
I've always listened to Motown since I was a kid (I'm now 41). The movie only makes you want to understand more and more about their lives.

I didn't realize you were from W VA Tess. One of my most-bestest Tempt fan friends is from the Marietta area (the West VA side.)

Hi, I am new-again around here. (Messed up my account the frst time around, but I've made it back anyhow.) The Classic Tempts, or their music rather, have been around me for the past 30 years. Yeah, I am a left over of the Disco generation-- just can't quit that darned dancing. I would never, ever have attempted to see the Temptations nowadays; I'd rather keep the memory alive of the way things were back then. I danced my weekends away in Germany, where the Tempts were well received for the artistic value of their music (mostly a boys' thing) and their good looks (girls only thing-- I guess the boys were jealous.) I found you because I was looking for Info for a book about David Ruffin. I thought this would be a good place to start. Now, I'm still looking for that info about David. I'm going to write that suckaaah. No matter what. And yes, I'm going to squeeze every bit of info about him out of y'all! Just wait and see!

Now, now, don't cut off your nose to despite your face. The Tempts and the Review both offer a wonderful show. Don't miss them!

Hi, I'm Tess and this is my first post. I am from Charleston, West Virginia and I found you while doing research for a "Motown Night" fundraiser that I was planning for a nonprofit group this past spring (tough job, huh?). I have been a Motown fan since junior high in the 60's and the Tempts have always been my favorites, especially Ruffin. While working on the Motown event I fell in love with them all over again. Just finished reading Genna Sapia Ruffin's book and have LOTS of questions...anyone here want to discuss? Tess Hi Tess, I am going to get Genna's book today. I have heard a lot of bad things about it. But one thing I don't really like about the discussions of it is that Genna often is being bashed. From what I know so far of her book, she paints an unflattering story -- probably not professionally enough -- about David. Why is she treated so unfriendly for showing David's weaknesses? I should probably read the book first, I know. But since I'm preparing a bio of David Ruffin, the reaction to Genna's book bothers me a bit: I know I will find out a lot of negative info about DR that a genuine portrait of him needs to expose -- but what matters in the end is to present him as what he really was: a human being with a God given talent that made millions happy-- even if he himself was not. I am a freelance writer and have published in Germany as well in the States -- mostly articles about literature -- and I am very serious about writing this man's bio. He deserves it! I'm going to read Genna's book right away.

AnnaK, I think that by not havinig an editor or professional help with writing her book GSR did a diservice to herself. Also, I think that we are all looking for a DR bio and this book isn't it so of course we are disappointed (aren't we always when we find people or things not to be as we have imagined?). It is her book and her story of her life with DR so it is natural for it to be about HER. God only knows what she has put up with to be with him. Did she make the choices most of us would have made? Probably not. She chose to share what seemed to be a pretty unpleasant life, again, a lot of folks would not want that kind of unflattering picture of themselves shown to the world. OTOH her choices have given us a look into what was the world of DR albeit Genna's eyes. I'm anxious to get your take on her story. Also, you have a ready audience for your book....so HURRY ! Tess
