Tess, thank you so much!! I'm currently reading Genna's book. And I really do love it. She definately wasn't after a literary career, but she had guts enough to respond to something that she views as an offense to her and David Jr. And, by the way, I think she has a talent for writing. Also, I think she was right to self-publish, because her story would never have been as immediately told as it is, had any editor had a chance to dry-cean it. Sure it's gross at times, full of raw emotion-- but it is her story. Now, you'se all will kick me out, I know. But I will have my own web-site: temptsboardkickedmeouttoo.com (Thanks for the inspiration Sukkafu!) I will hurry as much as I can-- and I will write DAVID'S story, not Genna's. She has done that herself as well as she could do it. Thanks for the encouragement, Tess.

But one thing I don't really like about the discussions of it is that Genna often is being bashed.
Yeah, I'm gonna have to agree with you on that Anna. I think, generally speaking, that people tend to be a little overly critical when it comes to her. A little too much hating for my taste.

But one thing I don't really like about the discussions of it is that Genna often is being bashed. Yeah, I'm gonna have to agree with you on that Anna. I think, generally speaking, that people tend to be a little overly critical when it comes to her. A little too much hating for my taste. I wouldn't say "hateing". Hate is such a strong word. I think that people seem to believe that she tried to push herself into the Temptations story. Some people feel the same way about Tony Turner. What makes Genna's story more true than Tony's? And it's got to be more than hairstyle. Genna was involved with David...some people don't think David and Tony even knew each other. Why? I know that they did ,I've seen it with my own eyes,no he said, she said. So having said that ,do I give one story more credit than the other? I have to for the simple fact that I saw some of what Turner talks about in his book....I didn't get stuck on the perm! That was of NO interest to me. He didn't say too much on Paul because..he was not that familiar with Paul, nor that time period in the Temptations history...he was heavy into the Supremes during the days when Paul was a Tempt. I tested him on his knowledge ,that's how I know. Now if he talks about the Supremes....I have to believe him...because he showed me enough proof to give him that respect.I did not like some things that Tony put in his book..and I told him so. I could have made some money from that book if I let him use a few of my pictures that I took over the years with the fellas. I turned him down,I didn't listen to Eddie, when he told me(not about Turner's book) that I could get alot of money for the picture he & I took in 1969 at the Apollo, like I told him..they can't print up enough money to pay me for that picture. The money that I would have received for the pictures was not worth the memories that I have with them....always letting me hang with them, the warm greetings, and the people that I met as a result of this friendship that I developed being ruined. Almost like Michael Ray and Aba. It did spoil the last chance I had to see Eddie at the Apollo during Street Gold. Not that he wouldn't see me,but I didn't want to see,or be in the middle of anything that had to do with that book. Turner wanted Eddie to read it before it went to press..I was not going to take it to him,or did I want to see Tony attempt to take it to him. Just think...if Eddie saw me..he would have asked me to go get that picture of us behind the Apollo...I would have asked him if we could update the picture in the same spot in our "Adulthood" and he would have done so. That would support what he said about his interactions with people after the shows. That was no hype...that was real..Dennis too...REAL . That's what they did....no lie..no P.R ploy...and at the height of their success, not at a down period in their careers. That is the reason I don't put up with "stars" looking down their nose at you,and feel comfortable telling them..because "IF The Temptations don't act that way.....who the hell are you to think that you can act that way...and it's O.K.?" Not with me...and thanks to the Tempts for drilling that in my head over the years.

Im from upstate NY and I found this site just by searching the net for temptation information. I've seen this site before, but now it's a better than when I was here before, so I decided to camp out for a while. Don't know why I like the Temptations, I was 14 years old and I was outside in the hood when I heard "My Girl" and I just could not believe what I heard. It was the 1st time I ever really paid attention to a song and needed to know more about the group. From that day on, I was hooked on the Temptations and it's been about 27 years and I still can't get enough of them. Im just happy to see that there are folks that are more into the group than I am and I can learn alot just by reading all that you all have written.

Where are you from? ~~~ Originally from DC, but my family moved to PG Co, Maryland when I was eight. I joined the army right out of high school and have lived in North Carolina, South Carolina, Portugal, Pennsylvania and Georgia. (I love Atlanta!) I am mother to Dexter, 19 and Cherrelle 17, divorced for 12 yrs. Wow. How'd you find us? ~~~ I heard about this board through the mini-series aholics bbs. I'm glad to know others that love and appreciate the Temps as much as I do. I feel right at home here. My friends just do not understand, lol. Why do you like the tempts? ~~~ I think they're magical, as was the kingdom of Motown. Real princes and princesses. I continue to be amazed by the amount of talent that was in Detroit in the sixties. The trouble man also has my heart. :inlove: When/How did you get into the tempts? ~~ I grew up listening to them and fell back in love after watching the mini-series in 1998. It was a Sunday night and I just sat down for a minute to see how lame the movie would be. I never got back up. I have to sneak and watch it now because my family thinks I'm insane. I am absolutely in love with the C5 & HOF6 (and Damon) but that's where the love ends. Thanks for making this such a wonderful place to let me be me!

Hi Everyone!!!
I just joined your group and I wanted to tell you a little about myself.
Where are you from?
I'm originally from Orange, New Jersey. However, I now live just outside of Philadelphia in Bristol, PA.
How did you find us?
You know, I don't remeber. I've been "lurking" around the forum regularly for a year or so, but I never had the guts to join. Over the months, I've become very familiar with all the regular contributors, and I've already got a feel for whom I'm going to agree with and who I....well.....won't aggree with. (smile)
Howdid you get into the Tempts?
In 1966, when I was just 3 years old, my father came home with a then brand new copy of the Temptations Greatest Hits. I immediately fell in love with this record. I would make my parents play it all the time. People were amazed that before I coud read I was even able to identlfy the A side from the B side. This was the beginning of a lifelong attachment to the Tempts.
In the intervening years it's been my pleasure to have seen the group perform live over 75 times, the first time was in 1966 in Atlantic City, and the most recent was this past Friday in Philadelphia. In fact, I have seen every Temptation perform with the exception of Al Bryant and Ricky Owens. I've remained a diehard fan.
Why do you love the Tempts?
I've always liked the harmonies and background vocals. There's just a unique Temptations sound and approach that no other vocal group has. Plus, they've always been soooooo classy and sophisticated. I wanted to be a Temptation when I grew up! Unfortunately, I never grew past 5'7" and I can't sing!!!(smile)
Well, hello again & I'm sure we'll be talking soon!!!
