pho·bia Pronunciation: 'fO-bE-& Function: noun Date: 1786 : an exaggerated usually inexplicable and illogical fear of a particular object, class of objects, or situation Mine are knives and needles! I have nightmares about being stabbed and could never ever stab anyone. To save my life I could shoot a person, but I'd probably die if I had to stab someone. And needles! OMG. I'm better than I used to be, because when I first joined the army they gave me like twelve shots in one day! The thought of a dentist placing a needle in my gums :shocked So I'm curious to know what yours are.

I'm not super keen on flying insects. The crawling ones don't bother me so much, but give it some wings (Peach, I think we've discussed this before) and I can't handle it. I opened my door the other night and a moth flew at me and I wigged out. I've got all this hair and I'm paranoid they'll get stuck and I won't be able to get them out.

got another one ........... unsolved mysteries ......... missing people esp. ............. I could NEVER make it through an entire episode of the SHOW "Unsolved Mysteries" and what's his name off of 20/20 ........... hmm.......... anyway one of the guys on 20/20 specialized in unsolved crimes and that always freaked me out. But at the same time, it's like a train wreck, I can't make myself turn away.

I still have it for moths, but being a parent actually helped me. (I have to stay sane for her, or we'd both be a wreck because she has the same phobia!) Anna has it for *all* flying insects, too... even flies, but she has turned into the warrior with flies. She swings a great swatter. In the car, though, she has no rational thought....if there is a moth in the back window, she will scream bloody murder. A few times, she has unbuckled her seat belt and crawled into the front seat with me, while begging me to pull over and kill it. (Usually on a very busy interstate!) This is a girl who wouldn't think of unbuckling before the car is fully stopped in our driveway. Me.....besides moths, I guess you could say I have a phobia of heights....but nothing completely irrational. Also, I have a pretty big fear of going blind.... I have a lot of dreams about this one. As a child had the needle phobia big time, then became a nurse, go figure? Bridges, especially narrow ones since the Silver Bridge collapsed near here in the 60's (see Mothman movie). Heights. SNAKES big, little, dead, alive..... all of them. I am trying to overcome this just because I don't like to be controlled by anything, and if I have my girls out and we would come upon one :shocked . So far my plan for that is if the girl kills the snake she earns one badge and if she can convince the leader to come down from the tree she earns two ;D! Tess

I have a SERIOUS FEAR of mold, mildew, and fungus. If you throw an old muffin at me that's growing blue mold, I will scream and run like crazy. I don't even like getting near any stuff that's growing...new stuff. Don't ask me to clean out the bottom of the refridgerator when there's creepy stuff like that in there The only thing worse is a shower FULL of black mildew....it's so gross. I WILL NOT take a shower if that's how I gotta do it. Cause then it'd feel surrounded and everything...and I know the stuff can't hurt you, but ewww It's a weird phobia, but I'm serious :faint:
