"RATS" In Nam we were over run with giant rat's as big as small dogs. One night on a ambush one got in my sleeping bag and all the sissy in me came out. The way i was screaming my company thought we were under attact . I would have rather taken on a battalion of VC with a sling shot.

Finally, somebody who understands me. ;D But, isn't my fear taking it a little to far? You used to be a dj, so I assume you know the cover for "It's Hard", right? i know it's just a d*mn CD cover, but looking at that long, narrow hallway with the low ceiling literally makes me feel dizzy. Yes, I do know that cover!! And if you have a keen mind, of course it would do that! Imagination is the *worst* thing!! The ceiling thing..... I have had that happen to me in amusement park type rides. (Haunted houses, mazes, caves, etc.) Now, you would think that the claustrophobia would keep me away from these places in the *first* place, but it doesn't. (Because I'm an optimist! Plus, when you have a kid who loves that stuff, you push yourself.) But once I get in there...... I have to *get out.* It doesn't matter if there is a person in front of me, I will run them down to find the exit. (Especially caves!) I do the same thing in crowds. If anyone of you needs to go some place crowded, and I feel incredibly brave that day, I'm the one to take with you. I will make a path in seconds, not caring who I step on. ;D ;D And people think I'm just rude. Peach

You all will probably laugh your heads off -- but I've read a long time ago that claustrophobia may be caused by a difficult birth (for the baby) ... I have never heard that, but I won't laugh. I was a breach birth!!! They couldn't get me out, so they had to turn me. (So I hear, not that I remember.) ;D ;D And this would explain why my daughter has *no* claustrophobia.... she was *very quick.* It's funny....but when I first saw this thread, I couldn't really think of any definite phobias..... certainly claustrophobia. I think I don't like to label myself claustrophobic. Plus, like I said, I don't put myself in those positions usually (on purpose) because I live a pretty calm life..... so I don't experience it enough to *feel* that way. I'm sure most people, if they are phobic about something....avoid it. Maybe long enough to forget the fear.....because, like Jay said, even *thinking* about it creeps you out! I'm babbling. ;D Peach

My brother chased me a mile with a black snake when we were kids. The only time I can ever remember outrunning him. I STILL haven't forgiven him. So Brother of Tess this is for you :bonk: Tess

Peach I've been known to run over a few feet in the past, trying to find an exit in the middle of a check out.

Cat Story! :shocked
Ivory no matter how much they threaten PLEASE do not give my info to those nutty PETA folks, OK ;D?
In junior high and high school I used to spend my summers with my favorite aunt and uncle in Ocean City, Maryland. The summer of 1970 my aunt was on bed rest due to a difficult pregnancy. They had a Siamese kitten (I am not a cat person, but I really was trying) . One afternoon I was going out on the patio and was carrying the cat under my arm left arm. As I stepped out I pulled the sliding door shut with my right arm when all of a sudden the kitty started making a gosh awful noise :shocked out came paws and claws :shocked and I instantly let go of the cat and jumped out of the way. I turned around to see what was going on and there was the kitty hanging in mid air by her tail that was shut in the sliding door! My aunt who was lying on the sofa was screaming at me to get the cat out of the door. I was trying to stay as far away from that hissing, clawing, ball of fur as I could get. Finally my aunt had to get up and open the door from the inside to release the kitten from the door. Needless to say Tess got grounded.

Tess ......... the PETA people have NOTHING on me!!! But don't feel bad, I accidentally shut my dearly departed cat Scrootey in the window one time. She was sitting in it but I didn't realize it and WHAM down the windown came. Well, she was unharmed only shaken up a bit but I think the whole thing traumatized ME more than it did the cat. Now I have this almost obsessive compulsive thing where I have to check a window twice before I shut it to make sure there's not a cat there.
