Nish's admonition to play "My Girl" after you haven't heard it for a while is a good one. There's no way you can miss the absolute beauty of simplicity (although it takes genius to create it).I just wish the audience would resist the temptation to sing along with the Temptations on this song. They should sit there in utter silence and reverence so everyone could appreciate its simple beauty.
It's a Catch 22 situation.
However, I think the movie ended on the perfect note. The Tempts in their purple suits singing and dancing to "My Girl."
And when I mentioned the genius (geniuses) it took to create the song, I am including the Funk Brothers and Cholly's contributions too. You hear that bass line, the guitar licks, the drum beats, and you never forget them.
I wish Bo would resist the temptation to sing it also! Cholly didn't have anything to do with the song! You forgot to mention two contributions ,without that, the song would be TRASH: The heavenly harmonies of the Temptations, who it has been written that the bridge when all the voices come together,is 60 seconds of PERFECT HARMONY ! And last, but not least,Mr.DAVID RUFFIN,who sang the song so great, that he put a stamp on the song that outlived him and made anybody who attempted to do the song seem foolish to try to duplicate! He made it a DAVID RUFFIN SONG,even if it says "The Temptations" on it,people say...That David Ruffin sure sang the sh#t out of that song! Ruff made the difference ! How can anyone talk about My Girl and not mention David Ruffin? That's like Stevie Wonder trying to sing "America,The Beautiful! I don't care who tries to sing that song, nobody comes close to Ray Charles! NOBODY,NOBODY,NOBODY ! Same thing with Ruffin and My Girl ! They should have ended the movie with Just My Imagination! That would have said it all!
