david sea can sing my girl even better than theo. If David sea is the guy I heard on the live from san pablo CD, then I don't think he sings it better than Theo. Oh, he's really good, but he's not as good as theo on that one. Though David Sea has a remarkarable voice.

/me kikiaj wanders in from the desert wiping the dirt from her eyes....Ahem :computer: I realize theis is the PUWDTMGS thread but the mention of the beloved David Sea has me thinking of how he absolutely blows it away "Wish it Would Rain" on the Live/San Pablo Cd(I think) The Man is blessed and the fact that Sweet Sweet Eddie (and Dennis)is in the background makes it so special. I know David Ruffin was smiling when he heard it.../me kikiaj wanders back into the desert

I know David Ruffin was smiling when he heard it...*
I don't know about that, kiki. The version with Eddie and Dennis on it wasn't from "San Pablo", Eddie had already passed by then. David was invited to join the recording session that version was recorded on, and respectfully declined.

Kikia If you have the version of "Rain" with Eddie, and Dennis singing backup it's from David's 1991 solo Cd titled "Born to Sing", not from Casino San Pablo.

Nish's admonition to play "My Girl" after you haven't heard it for a while is a good one. There's no way you can miss the absolute beauty of simplicity (although it takes genius to create it).
I just wish the audience would resist the temptation to sing along with the Temptations on this song. They should sit there in utter silence and reverence so everyone could appreciate its simple beauty.
It's a Catch 22 situation.
However, I think the movie ended on the perfect note. The Tempts in their purple suits singing and dancing to "My Girl."
And when I mentioned the genius (geniuses) it took to create the song, I am including the Funk Brothers and Cholly's contributions too. You hear that bass line, the guitar licks, the drum beats, and you never forget them.
