denzel's not married, and i don't give a sh..., denzel's not married, and i don't give a rat's a.. the general is cute, if you're female and you like grayshort haired military types that send your boys into battle and don't lead them like washington and grant and pershing and macarthur and patton did. For the record Sukkafu, this former Arcent Commander isn't leading anyone into battle... and how do you know what kind of men... washington and grant and pershing and macarthur and patton were? Did you meet these men personally??. Maybe I am not understanding your comment What makes the former Arcent Commander less than Patton or those others you mentioned . He chose his career field, and is following the orders of those appointed over him...that doesn't make him less than Patton, or the others...does it?

those forementioned generals all rode into the heat of the battle and fought side by side with their men. today's general is well safe from the frontlines. good folks but why not be a leader-lead, not tell the others -you go on ahead, and good luck? if they mess up they're not going home in a box.

I'm no expert on war generals or the military, but isn't whether or not he personally goes to war out of his hands?
Besides, he's a little on the older side. He's probably served his war time, anyway.

Sukka, Grant it, he will not be on the front lines but make no mistake that he is in danger also. Also because he is a 3 Star General today does not mean he had not experienced his share of battles when he was a 1st Lieutenant(sp)...say in Vietnam?? AND Furthermore battles are not fought NOW in the same way they were back then. SO that does not make him any less of a Superb Leader. He is not some stuffed shirt who is sitting behind a desk barking out orders and "good lucks" ....I know this for a fact...and baby that ain't second hand. I happened to work for him.

Kiki, my friend "Fair Lady Soul" wants to know how the tank guys stay clean in the desert? How do they bathe and wash their clothes? You have to understand she's a Martha Stewart type from West Virginia and she worries about things like that.
So?

Maybe, just maybe, her interest in hygiene might have something to do with the fact that she is a nurse.

You have to understand she's a Martha Stewart type from West Virginia and she worries about things like that. So? Ok in a war/field environment depending on what is around, soldiers bathe every 3rd day. Some of us have purchased camp showers and will bathe everyday(ya hear me?) Baby wipes or wet wipes are used to assist in keeping clean and with all that the Babywipe market has to offer..you can still maintain that "Oh so fresh" feeling . As far as laundry we bring our own soap and have buckets to wash out personal items...sometimes they set up a laundry point so we can turn in uniforms. But if that doesn't/can't happen we will wash them out too. Any more questions??

Yes..they do. I am not particularly fond of MRE's and will probably lose about 30 pounds(ha ha) from not eating. I will have to be near death to eat one of those things....

Just a little 'tidbit' from the Charlotte Observer - our local newspaper:
Major supplier of MREs is based in S.C.
Carolinas troops desperate for a taste of home might actually be getting it from their Meals, Ready-to-Eat. One of the military's largest suppliers of MREs is SoPakCo -- formerly the Southern Packaging and Storage Co. -- in South Carolina. The food is prepared by about 350 employees at its Bennettsville plant, then shipped to Mullins, where 400 workers seal it in foil and plastic pouches. The food is precooked. It's designed to last -- a meal stored at room temperature is safe for 5 1/2 years -- not necessarily to taste good. Soldiers sometimes warm a pouch on a Humvee or tank engine.
Observer reporter Peter Smolowitz, who traveled with troops in Afghanistan last year and is now reporting from Qatar, liked the bean burritos but said, "I'd rather eat dirt than the MREs with either hot dogs or pasta."
Varieties include chili and macaroni, vegetable manicotti, and jambalaya. It's not barbecue or Calabash, but hey, it's from home.
