IRLM, did you catch "Let's Talk Church" yesterday? They had a different panel discussing the issue of women as puplit ministers again. Aww, man. Why did I forget to turn it on BET yesterday? And I was up all day yesterday, so I know I wasn't asleep. My paper is going to suffer from lack of current information. I'm knocking on the door of an 'F' here.

f for forgetfulness? don't be so hard on yourself, southern niece! by the way, there was an article in today's paper in the business section about a nielsen rating study that showed blacks are making significant increases in online time, as well as high speed internet, and the 3 main websites that african americans choose to view are #1) http://www.blackplanet.com(75% black audience) #2) http://www.zjamz.com(71% black audience) #3) bet interactive(63% black audience) avg time the previous yr was 30 hours /month as opposed to 55 hrs/mnth avg- now it's 44 hrs/mo online vs. 55 . hrs average-

HA HA!! I finished my paper! It was due today. Can't you tell I'm glad I don't have to deal with that anymore? I enjoyed reading about it, but writing that paper was a mess. I would've been expecting an 'A' but I had a hard time coming up with current information. Most of it is history (slave religion, the beginnings of black church denominations, and folks like Jarena Lee). And just for that I considered changing my title, my thesis statement, and just the overall tone of the paper, but I didn't, so I'm stuck with what I get. I had an 'A' in that class, too.

Congratulations!!! Just a quick question.... did you research any info on women in the Presbyterian Church (PCUSA) denomination? I ask that only because our denomination is LOADED with women pastors. The Interim Executive Presbyter as well as the Associate Presbyter for Leadership Development in the Charlotte Presbytery office are women. Both with Doctor of Divinity degrees. Presbyterian denomination has always been REALLY committed to education. A large number of the schools for freed slaves, including many of the historically black colleges, up and down the east coast were founded by the Presbyterian church.

I didn't do any specific research on Presbyterians, no. I put information about the seven major denominations that make up the system of black churches: the African Methodist Episcopal (AME); the African Methodist Episcopal Zion (AMEZ); the Christian Methodist Episcopal (CME); the National Baptist Convention, USA, Incorporated (NBC); the National Baptist Convention of America, Unincorporated (NBCA); the Progressive National Baptist Convention (PNB); and the Church of God in Christ. I do believe that I ran across some mention of Presbyterians and another denomination that had a lot of women preachers, though.

i saw a very good movie the other day with stevie and cheski- it was one i'd never seen before- ''finding forrester''-with sean connery. it's a good movie about an inner city black kid who's a baller and loves to read great literature and be a writer. we rented that and ''what dreams may come'' with robin williams and cuba gooding jr.-that was a freaky movie.

Yeah, I used to work with a lady who was in divinity school to become a Presbyterian minister. She was formerly Catholic but became Presbyterian because she obviously didn't have a real good chance to become a priest.

women give talks in our church and hold positions of leadership, instruction, and authority, and are also missionaries, but are not ordained and are not heads of congregations.they have no priesthood. they have a nobler, more divine calling, that no minister can ever attain- that of motherhood-giving life to His children and nurturing them with a love closest to Divine Love.
as AL would say to the fellas - TOP THAT!
