Ever miss stuff from when you were growing up that you just CAN'T get anymore? Here's some of mine.... Underoos Godfather's Pizza restaurants Sambos (a politically incorrect chain, but we went there every Sunday before church and there was this teeny Asian waitress with LONG hair who could carry five plates on each arm)

Oh Ivory, don't get me started...
First things first - Eisenberg's - a local boutique in the Mid-Mon Valley from which I got all my classic one-of-a-kind Easter dresses and school clothes. Gosh, that was how the clothing habit started, innocently enough.
Five and Dimes - I grew up at the end of the Five and Dime era, I remember going to this little cornerstore in my neighborhood, and feeling so rich because I had 1.00, enough to by 100 swedish fish. I'd carry that little brown paper bag home and go to town!
The wide-eyed approach to Christmas - So now that I am older and fully internalize and choose to celebrate the real meaning of Christmas, I sometimes miss the excitement of not being able to go to sleep, and waking up at the crack of dawn, and my many ploys to sneak a peek at what Mom bought me. Now, I'm much more lowkey about Christmas, it's much more of a solemn, contemplative holiday for me, but those were fun times, man, fun times.
And for the first 10 years of my life, I didn't think wars existed after Vietnam... - the Civil War, WWII - these were all ANCIENT to me, and certainly war would never happen in my lifetime. Man, I wish I had THAT naivete again.
Glo-worms, Rainbow Brite, and She-Ra. Inspector Gadget, Heathcliff, and GOOD Saturday Morning Cartoons (when I see what my nieces and nephews have to choose from, I feel really bad for them); the golden age of Disney movies... The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Bambi, Fantasia... MAN, I lived for a Disney movie, guys!

I miss that carefree, worry-free attitude I always had when I was a kid.
Barbie dolls and accessories...I had a huge collection of dolls and me and my friend would get together and make up stories featuring our dolls.
Fun school projects, like the Easter Egg Decorating Contest in 2nd grade, school Christmas, Halloween, and last day of school parties, etc...those were fun!
My childhood friends.
Baby Sitter's Club books...I'd buy a new one each month.
Yes, those were the days!

YOU WENT THERE, YOU MENTIONED BABY SITTER'S CLUB!!! I swear I wanted Claudia's wardrobe. Oh man, that takes me back to Sweet Valley High, and there was another series of books. And of course the R.L. Stine scary teenage books. LOVE those!
And my favoritest book in the world "The Three Matildas"... from way back in the '60s but I had a copy of it, and I read that thing about 20 times a week.

I've still got my BSB books. I used to try and get all of them, but I stopped way before she put out the last one. I've also got a bunch of Sweet Valley Twins books. Gosh, how my literary taste has grown...

I went on a desperate search for Underoos today. They still make them, but sadly only for boys and only in about three varieties, Batman, Spiderman and Superman. No Wonder Woman like I had and DEFINATELY no Daisy Duke which I never even knew they MADE until yesterday! But alas, Target had none. So I settled on a thee pack of Hello Kitty briefs instead. But the good news is, guess who I was reunited with!!!! Why none other than Miss Strawberry Shortcake herself!!!! Yep, picked me up a brand new doll! So I'm sitting here playing with my new Strawberry Shortcake doll while sipping on a Strawberry daquri wine cooler! Who says it sucks to be an adult!
