My growing anticipation about this "Complete Duets" CD package is centered around the bonus tracks listed #14-18. Could David be on any of these tracks? It's possible. What do you think MIke? He was still with the group in early spring '68 and "Join" was released later that year. Might be "wishful thinking" on my part, but I'm thinking it, til I get to hear what they did with "Amen", A House Is Not A Home" and the others. 35+ years later .... these are the "new" (to us) Temptations recordings I'm waiting to hear.

Oops, I forgot. "Now Now, I'll Tell You Later" was recorded in 1963 before David Ruffin joined the group. That song is on the Gettin' Ready lp released in 65...and Eddie K. sings lead on that song................David was in the background.

The liner notes for the GETTIN' READY album state that "Not Now I'll Tell You Later" was recorded in 1963. The Supremes were waiting to cut "When The Lovelight Starts Shining Through His Eyes" and pitched in with the background.
The album GETTIN' READY was not released until 1966, and the Tempts did not have enough new material to include so they got some that had not previously been released. The author of the liner notes is Harry Weinger. Weinger is also the researcher and supervisor of the digitally remastered, using all the new technology, Gettin' Ready.
SO perhaps Cadeho can find Al on that song.

"Not Now..." is one of my favorite early Tempts songs and I can't wait to hear this version. Al should be on that recording but with 8 people singing, it's even hard to find Otis... and Diana tries to drown everyone out.

I just listened to some samples at www.towerrecords.com/product.aspx?pfid=2986390 , and I didn't hear David on the #14-18 tracks as I hoped . I didn't hear any Tempts clearly except Paul and Eddie and you know Diana is hogging the lead mic. Who's that with the spoken intro on "I'm Gonna Make You...."? I glad they took that out years ago........

The packaging for "Joined Together" sports new interviews with Supremes members Ross, Wilson and Cindy Birdsong, plus the Temptations' Otis Williams. The set will be issued a week after the compilation "Motown 1's," featuring the biggest hits from the label's storied past. -- Jonathan Cohen, N.Y. You must be joking.
1963 is not a misprint.
Harry Weinger just reiterated that people are confused because the GETTIN' READY did not come out until 1966, but "Now Now I'll Tell You Later" was recorded in 1963. It is not a misprint.

Give it up, Mike. Capitalizing all the letters in MISPRINT does not make it a misprint. "Not Now I'll Tell You Later" was recorded in 1963. No matter whether you capitalize the word, put it in bold face, or whatever, it does not change the fact that it was recorded in 1963, and David Ruffin is not in the song.
You will notice that I mistyped the first word in the title in one posting, but on later entries I made sure I did not make any typing errors on the title. And your boxed in quote of mine had the correct title.
It's a fun song, and I've always liked it.

"Growing stardom had kept the group out of the studio and several of the album's tracks were plucked from earlier sessions, particularly "Not Now I'll Tell You Later," a 1963 recording with the Supremes pitching in -the former Primettes were waiting to cut "When the Lovelight Starts Shining Through His Eyes."
- Harry Weinger
"When the Lovelight Starts Shining Through His Eyes" was recorded October 1, 1963. The Supremes boxset booklet.

You're right Jane........Gettin Ready was released June 15, 1966..and I was confusing Not Now.....with You're Not An Ordinary Girl as far as when it was done....Sorry.

THIS IS GREAT NEWS? I just bought "the Best of Diana Ross and the Supremes" (or is it "the Best of the Supremes, I dunno) about three weeks ago. I love the Supremes, but Diana's singing doesn't sit too well with me. However, I am totally in love with "Aint No Mountain High Enough"!! The music is AWESOME, and Black (Ms. Ross) didn't do too bad herself.
::)before anyone can get offended, 'Black' was a pet name that Diana and Berry used to refer to each other.

I liked her version of that song as well Too Sweet.....my computer says that my copy of the cd has been sent and so I look forward to getting it this week...........then we'll know for sure about those tracks 14-18.
