Aba, you're right. It is such a simple song meaning the melody isn't really hard to conquer. The times I heard Richard sing it, he did a 'simpler' rendition than anyone else had probably ever done. He didn't deviate much from it's original form or melody. But Bo, on the other hand, does a great job when he's not trying to over do it. Sure it's his time to shine and he should try to make it his own. But in reality, it'll never be his own and he should 'keep it real' and stick to just putting his stamp on it. People in the audience will always sing it the way they heard it on the original record. His own are songs like 'Forget About It', How Could He Hurt You', and he's making 'This Is My Promise' his own. That's not saying he should just leave the others alone for someone else to perform because some would have to tell him "As long as you a Tempt, you gon' do 'em." But with 'My Girl', he should at least do the first verse (maybe the second too, I hate the way he sings ...I got a sweeter song...) as close to the orginal version as possible then after 'hey, hey, hey' he can do his thang. Whutchall thank?

I feel the same way you do about Richard singing that song. But I am not thrilled with Bo's rendition either. For such a simple song it can be intimidating to the person who sings it because of its history. Bo has the goods to sing it but he needs to make it his own. That takes time! i guess you'd say, i got gc out the way, of my club my club, talking 'bout my club ...otis williams 2003 version-was gc a decoy?-maybe it was a publicity stunt to cause controversy since a new album is due out soon- like putting a stick in a hornet's nest and twisting...
otis should listen to the opening lines of bohemian rhapsody by queen- is this the real life-is this just fantasy- caught in a landslide -no escape from reality-
open your eyes look up to the skies and see- any way the wind blows doesn't really matter to me-to me...
by the way gang , i feel bo's been with the group 5 years and about 1000 shows- how much time does bo need to make it his own? david ruffin did it in one take- and after 1000 shows and another 1000 rehearsals bo still can't sing my girl right to save a dangling female 's life over a nest of crocodiles! he's got a great voice for his own kind of new tempts mushy stuff, but not the classic stuff- don't change the declaration or the constitution- people like them just the way they are!
leave classic material the way it should be played- don't funkify the star spangled banner!
