You can't deny it.... I just like that noise in the background. half the time either that or the beat is what attracts me to rap. Hey ivory, I liked "Love you better" by LL Cool J. Paradise is kindda annoying. I liked the Tempts version better. ;D Somebody else compared Mystikal to James Brown. I don't think his messages are quite the same...

I like the song LL has to his grandmother on his newest album better than anything I've heard so far. It features K-Ci and JoJo and uses "Sadie."

when you reach for a glass, you make sure it's clean before you drink from it. when your food falls on the floor, you throw it away or at least wipe the dirt from it. you wash your hands everyday several times a day for hygiene and health. why go to church and read your bibles and then listen to something that counteracts the good stuff? janebse once said that we should start promoting the tempts like crazy and demand that music to start a popular demand for their airplay. we don't have to listen to the garbage on the radio just because they're playing it-believe me these folks are business men and they'll drop those songs like a hot potato if the public cuts off the sales and the radio! don't give in just because you like the beat- then get the music only version and listen and add your own words. be strong chilluns-cuz de bad boy's out ta getcha!

Sounds like the stuff that went out on the radio, TV and movies when the Devil's Music (rock'n'roll) first hit the airwaves . I guess its true...we DO become our parents eventually.

what a silly remark from a bright individual! i listen to several hours of the ''devils'' music daily. i listen to motown, beatles, jazz, classical, disco, rock. i just avoid the songs that have anything to do with graphic sexual innuendo or hate or violence. you can have a balance. and by the way, the ''devil's music'' was back when strauss introduced the waltz!
my parents watch most if not all of the r rated movies, sitcom junk, and listen to more junk than i did!
it's interesting to note-my parents never brught us up religiously or were very moralistic- and all 3 of their sons joined a churchand are very involved in their respective churches and don't live the way their folks do. my mom smoked 45 yrs and watches 80-100 hours of shows/movies in a 7 day period.my dad drinks beer and had a liquor cabinet full of whiskey wine and drank 2 or 3 glasses of something every other day. my dad watches a lot less, but he gambles 4 days per week. i do neither.
so if the tempts are the devil's music , i guess i'd better cover my horns!

Silly? OK.
I was just making an historical observation. Not meant as a personal "father to son" pass down, I was referring to a generational thing. You (and I) grew up in the generation that listened and danced to music labled by the prior generation as "The Devil's Music" (historical fact), was condemned on radio, television and movies as bound to lead to the moral disintegration of the youth of America, and had newspapers, congresspeople and leaders of churches calling for the banning and censoring of it.
Your post sounded amazingly similar. That's all I was saying. The people who did the condemning of "Rock and Roll" felt every bit as morally justified in what they said as you feel about what you are saying.

I used to watch over 100 hours of television a week, from the time I got out of school at 2 pm to maybe 12 or 1 in the morning, and even longer on the weekends. Weirdly enough, after I started listening to the Tempts, that number went down and I listened to music more.

I grew up with TV and I still watch it. I am not governed by what I see on Tv nor by what I hear in music. It is simple for the pleasure. I believe the Temps had an lp called HEAR TO TEMPT YOU. If you are waiting for someone to tell you what to look at and what to listen to, then you are in bad shape. We are our parents children but we should be our own adults. I can't listen to someone condemn something that may make others feel good. If you listened to the Beatles does that make you a mass murderer? If you watched Twilight Zone are you out of your mind? 8-)Just because I watched Sanford and Son does that make me a dummy!!!! ;D Don't answer that!

I'm sure there is plenty to do around here, but I've never fished, I don't (can't) swim, don't own a bike, and etc. I read plenty, too (reading three books right now ;D). It's just that I can't do much without somebody questioning me, so I just stay where they can see me. I don't do anything based on what I see or have seen on TV, which I guess it what Aba is trying to say.

aba said '' i can't listen to someone condemn something that may make others feel good''.
(in the spirit of ivory fair, who took my german remark to the next level of amos and andy),
SO TB, IF I CONDEMN CHILD PORNOGRAPHY OR RAPE OR INCEST OR MURDER WHICH MAKE OTHERS FEEL GOOD, WOULD YOU BE OFFENDED OR UPSET?
THERE WERE DISGUSTING WHITE FOLKS THAT HUNG BLACK FOLKS IN THE TREES AND GOT A KICK OUT OF IT.( REMEMBER THE SONG ''STRANGE FRUIT'' BY BILLIE HOLLIDAY?). THERE WERE EVIL PEOPLE IN TEXAS THAT DRAGGED THAT POOR BLACK MAN IN THE STREETS CHAINED TO THEIR VEHICLE AND KILLED HIM. THERE WAS MEDGAR EVERS SHOT. WHAT ABOUT OUR OWN SAN DIEGO HERO, DAVID WESTERFIELD, WHO JUST GOT THE DEATH PENALTY FOR RAPING,SODOMIZING AND MURDERING A 7 YR OLD LITTLE GIRL. I GUESS THE CHILD PORNO AND THE VIDEOS AND SHOWS HE HAD IN HIS POSSESSION HAD NO EFFECT ON HIS BEHAVIOR.
that's all i'm saying bro. i watched every sanford and son, mash, mary tyler moore, chico and the man, i dream of jeannie, voyage to the bottom of the sea, bonanza, etc. all in the family, the jeffersons, good times, mama's family, what's happenin', gary coleman, living single, martin, star trek, mod squad, fbi, fugitive .......
tv and movies and music today are not like the ones we watched and listened to. WHY DO YOU THINK WE LOVE THE TEMPTS SO MUCH! . life, honor, dignity, morality, religion, marriage ,and family are not precious to the people in control of the media.
it's okay to disagree with me! i'm cool and i love everybody on this board. ivory is awesome, aba is my man, mike is tops of the tops, and my nieces and tdal and aka and all of the rest are the best there is. we don't have to agree. i just like to filter out some of the more nasty stuff.

Turn the channel! Seek and You Shall Find ! Sukka, you are right in some of the things that you say,but it's a different world today! People like negative stuff! Good example,Many Temptations fans didn't know about their personal lives, until it was told ! Now despite all the great music that they made, all the shows they have performed, all people want to talk about is what they did offstage ! Why ? Do we have that right ? All the pictures that were taken of Paul, why use one of him with a drink in his hand and a woman(who is not his wife) sitting on his lap ? What about Paul's family ? Why is that acceptable? Did we need to know that ? NO ,we didn't !

I agree Mike. I removed my email address from my site primarily because I got so SICK of people writing me all the time asking "how many wives did the Temptations have," or how many kids or, what REALLY bothered me, "where are they buried?" Let them rest in peace for crying out loud! Just because these guys chose to be performers doesn't mean they owe us their personal lives.
