The woman sitting on Paul's lap was his wife Mary one of the many typos in the book. And if Paul didn't drink then why does he have one in his hand?  Since the miniseries The Temptations are getting much play that they haven't received in 15 years. You take what you want from it. The truth is told in the persons eyes who saw it. Just like Mary Wilson's truth it was told from her side and Diana's truth is told from a totally different side than Mary's. Gladys Knight's truth about that Barry Hankerson is totally different from his truth. (although I side with Gladys because I hate the way Barry is exploiting Aaliyah right now) |

Says who ? It could have been soda in the glass! I didn't see proof on the glass,did you ! If that was his wife,why show a tacky picture like that ? You got to show me where you got that information from ! I don't want my "SUGAR PIE" to be misinformed !  |

A poster who used to post on another Temptations board was doing research for a book about Paul and Mary told her that it was her in the picture on Paul's lap. That was a typo that shouldn't have been printed that way. I happen to think Paul looks absolutely adorable in that picture I dont' think it is tacky. But that's my opininion.  I believe Paul did have a drinking problem but that does not take away the love I have for him and his music. Heck I LOVE Sam Cooke but he was a straight up womanizer with six kids three of those out of wedlock and some others that were aborted. But that doesn't take away my love for him or his music. Only thing that will make me not cut for someone is if they abuse women I have a big problem with that. |

That's why I'm not a Bill Withers fan Denise Nicholson said that he abused her when they were married. I'm a big Denise Nicholson fan so needless to say that upset me.

I hear you on that Kim. I was a big Bill fan until he hit my girl, Room 227, In The Heat O f the Night. Common sense tells me what to be offended by and what to accept. Look in the mirror and see we are all imperfect in one way or another. That's why I say I don't judge people by what they like and dislike. However, a mass murderer, child molester, bogotry and hatred, what's to like about that. If a person chooses to hurt themselves, well that's one thing but when they hurt others then that's a horse of a different color, suk. I derive no pleasure of seeing anyone hurt or destroy themselves but I also have no control when they do. I won't stop liking David Ruffin, Sam Cooke, Dennis Edwards or any of the other singers who may or may not have had problems in their life. Some don't understand addiction and the power it has. To condemn someone for being sick is wrong. Now that we understand it better we can help but it is still up to the one who is sick to make the first move. You can't be helped if you are not calling for help. |

I think you have to be able to compartmentalize things. There are entertainers who I'd cross the street in order to keep from passing them because I know, first hand, that they're jerks but I still enjoy their singing ability. Now you could argue about BUYING music from someone who's lifestyle you don't approve of, but to just sit down and enjoy them sing, I can separate the singer from the song.
