Thank you, Nate. I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions. It's easy to see this is a passion of yours and I must say -- from an academic standpoint -- I find it rather fascinating to consider the ideas and philosophies behind these words. Granted, they've been translated (for better or worse) many times over the course of history, but the words still carry a profound meaning for so many. Here's an excellent site I found after reading your post: Alternate Bible TranslationsIt would've been nice to have come across it earlier because it has countless english and foreign language versions of the Bible to search. Instead of going cross-eyed looking for hidden meanings in the syntax of the King James Version, I could've saved myself a lot of time with the plain old layman's wording of the New International Version. Going by the NIV, here's how those same passages appear: Job 26:7.........He spreads out the northern skies over empty space; he suspends the earth over nothing.
Job 26:10........He marks out the horizon on the face of the waters for a boundary between light and darkness.
Isaiah 40:21.....Do you not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood since the earth was founded?
Isaiah 40:22.....He sits enthroned above the circle (the horizon) of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in.
Proverbs 8:27....I was there when he set the heavens in place, when he marked out the horizon on the face of the deep,That's much easier to follow...and pretty straightforward. The research I did on the Hebrew text mentioned that the word chuwg had been translated as both "compass(ed)" and "circle" in the KJV...which then forced me to try to figure out what those words would've meant at the time. I see that in the NIV, both are clearly interpreted to mean "horizon." Now, I'm happy. Thanks again, Nate, for all that you've contributed in this thread. I hope my arguments haven't been misconstrued by you or anyone else as attacks on your faith. I've tried my best to limit my rebuttals to the "scientific proof" being offered and NOT the actual beliefs the person is trying to prove. I'm bothered when I see the sloppy and disingenuous use of science to promote one faith over another. To me, that's shameful...and the arguments are easily refuted because scientific discovery does not choose sides. I believe science and religion should co-exist, remaining independent of one another. Afterall, we're both seeking TRUTH and KNOWLEDGE...just taking different paths. I'm pretty sure it's okay if we share our findings along the way, though. ;D

I've tried my best to limit my rebuttals to the "scientific proof" being offered and NOT the actual beliefs the person is trying to prove.I'm pretty sure it's okay if we share our findings along the way, though. ;D I am familiar with this site. I include many sites in the study of the bible. What seems unbiblical, i won't use until i have found numerous sources on the subject. When i witness or discuss issues of the bible, i find it fascinating that God has planted the same desire to seek him in the heart of scholars as well as the layman. Those who, past and present, seriously seek this evidence, come to the same conclusions about His evidential revelations. Solomon says, there is nothing new under the sun. What is, has already been. That is why i like to include the conclusions i have come to and intergrate it with what i have read. It absolutely astounds me on how you can meditate on passages such as those in Job and later discover that it reveals things about the universe that scientist only discovered hundreds of years ago. Some people love scientific data. I try to include it with the person who wrote it, and other times i take what God has shown me through meditation and searching and put them together. I'll always be willing to share what i come across as well as my thoughts. Beej, Ivory, curet30, Keres, DocT and others who contibuted invaluble information to this thread has added to the confirmation that this is what God has called me to do. I can't get away from it even if i tried, and i don't want to. I appreciate the discussion and don't feel as if my beliefs have been attacked. The reason is that the scriptures says, if we dilligently seek Him with all of our heart, strength, soul and "MIND", which includes historical, archaeological, manuscript, Scientific evidence and etc, we will find Him. Beej, this has been a great debate/discussion, not saying that others are through with it yet. I enjoyed it. I learned revealing things about the scriptures and can't wait for the next mind challenging thread. To all a good night, and God bless each one of you and families. God is my winter, my summer, my fall and spring. He's everything good and He's all that matters to me. -Nate "Boomer"

Heard this one yesterday: He who picks his nose must deal with the boogers he finds there! ;D ...all I need... I've heard the whole song before, If you go to SOULCLUB.ORG and look for JIMMY RUFFIN ... you will find the song HE WHO PICKS A ROSE ... about half way through it switches to HE WHO PICKS HIS NOSE ... Anyway ... I wanted to put a quote that I think MIGHT fit on this thread: Pour juger des notions exposées par des théologiens, on doit conclure que Dieu a créé la plupart des hommes simplement en vue de. serrer l'enfer. If you are wondering what it means ... I'll tell ya : To judge from the notions expounded by theologians, one must conclude that God created most men simply with a view to crowding hell.

I see... MLK, Jr. has a place on the Temptations Board, but God doesn't? No offense intended to anyone. It was merely a joke though..But in a serious note, people often argue about religion like I said before..MLK is a subject IN MY OPINION, nobody fights about.
