I am new to the board.
I loved the Temptations as a teenager, but had never seen what they looked like. Did not know anything about them. So, recently, I bought the movie and my little 11 year girl now plays it five or six times a day. She has completely fell for the songs and the guys. She knows the entire script, the songs and even their moves. To show her what the real Temptations looked like (she has a crush on four of them), I searched and found some photos of the real Temptations. She and I were shocked to find that the real Temptations are just as good looking as the movie actors who played them.
Already this morning, she has played the movie three times. I have to admit, I have to watch several parts each time as well.
Wish I had seen the mini-series some folks have talked about.

Hi JoJo1! WELCOME ! ! ! Wish I had seen the mini-series some folks have talked about. If you bought the movie, you've seen the mini-series we're talking about ! NOW, that said...is your version on VHS one-tape, or on DVD? The DVD is the complete miniseries, the one-tape VHS has some wonderful parts cut out. Also, VH1 has been airing the mini-series frequently, if you just can't get enough! (there are some of us here just addicted enough that, even owning the VHS AND the DVD, feel compelled to watch it on VH1 even with the commercials...nobody *I* know personally, of course  )

Thanks for the warm welcome from everyone.
The movie I purchased is on VHS tape. I will try to get the DVD to see all of it. I also plan to buy the book that Otis authored.
I will complete my profile.
Again this morning, the Temptations movie is going. My little girl is totally addicted (and me). She is so upset because she can not attend a show at a local casino that is featuring look-alike Temptations. She just turned 11 Tuesday.

JoJo, your daughter and my daughter would have a great time together!! (She is 8.) I took her to see Dennis Edwards and the Review in May, and we are going to see Otis' Temps group in September. She is a huge fan....almost as huge as me. ;D Her favorite Temptation is Melvin. Welcome to the group!! I haven't been posting as much, as I was just laid off on the 8th and feeling a little down. (Besides trying to find another job!) But I'll be around more eventually, I hope! Peach

That is so cute. Thanks Sukkafu.
Sorry, Peach, to hear about your job loss. There's an even better one out there for you. I just know it.

I forgot, my daughter's favorite Temptation is Eddie. Of course, she fell for the Eddie from the movie, but she thinks the real Eddie is almost as cute. She is crazy about his voice.
A question. Did the guys in the movie do their own singing? I know that was really Smokey Robinson at Melvin's funeral, but what about the others.

Depends on the song. If you don't get an answer from someone else, I'll get back with you when I have more time.
We really need to start a Miniseries FAQ ............
