Where you from? NYC How'd you find us? MSN search Why do you like the tempts? Cause they are what talent is all about When/How did you get into the tempts? My Mama's GF was the president of their fan club when I was little so I was always into their music. When I saw the mini-series I became a big fan. I run a fan site for Boyz II Men ( http://www.biimwebheadz.net) whom I concider to be just as talented and classy as the Temps. ;D

Mike had to leave the group in the fall of 2003 because he has scoliosis, which is a curvature of the spine. It has him in constant pain and he cant really perform with the group anymore. Right now Mike is being treated for it and may come back in the future if he is up to it. Boyz II Men are releasing and album called "The Throwback, Volume One" later this year and its an album of old hits from the 70's and 80's Another one of the reasons why i love the Temps so much is because Nate always talks about how the Temps inspired them and how Otis gave them allot of support and advice in the beginning of their careers.

I was born and raised in good ole tobacco state North Carolina. My family (most of my family) is from northern California. My mom went to college here and here I came. I've been to every state in the Unites States except for Alaska, so I'd say I started my temp thing around 1980. Mary Ann put a gun to my head and said "Join this group" ;D

>Where you from? Originally from Western NY, now living in Western Massachusetts. >How'd you find us? After a night of obsessive Temptations/David Ruffin Google-ing! The Ruffin/Kendricks videos really caught my attention. >Why do you like the tempts? Combination of great songs (Whitfield, Strong, Robinson, etc.), great groove (Funk Brothers!), and soulful voices (David, Eddie, Paul, etc.). Celebration mixed with sadness, defiance, politics, and romance... >When/How did you get into the tempts? A club I was frequenting played classic soul (Edwyn Starr's "25 Miles," James Brown, Aretha, etc.) in addition to Britpop music (Oasis, Blur, Beatles, etc.)- great combination. I've always had an appreciation for soul music, and over a year ago made a compilation CD of tracks I had in my memory courtesy of an internet site (please don't tell the authorities!). I realized that many of the tracks I chose happened to be by the Tempts- circa the late 60s-early 70s- Dennis Edwards- "Papa Was A Rolling Stone," "Can't Get Next To You," "Ball of Confusion." Before that I had little knowledge of them, apart from the fact that they sang "My Girl," "The Way You Do The Things You Do," and were known for their dance moves and classy suits... but as I found myself listening more and more to that compilation disc, I realized how I kept going back specifically to the Tempts tracks... Around the same time, I caught the TV movie on Vh1- I was pretty engrossed, and began to appreciate the legacy and interesting (although tragic) story the band had traveled. Like others, I took particular note of Leon's portrayal as David... I had to learn more! I tried to find the "perfect" greatest hits collection- it took me several months, because I decided I needed to find the out of print "Anthology" CD.... I must admit that this was solely because I remembered the song "Lady Soul" from back in early high school! Once I found it, there was really no turning back... at first I was into the Dennis period of funky soul, but then noticed myself gravitating back to the first disc... partly for the classic songs and largely because of the way David Ruffin delivered them- a touch of sadness and defiance... what he could do with his voice... I've never heard anything like it! 2003 was my year of discovery... it was an "endless summer" as far as the Tempts go- I got to see Dennis' group perform (and had a chance to meet him), stopped through Detroit and visited the Motown Museum (I was in awe), and last winter got to see Otis' group for the first time (last Sunday was my second- and this time I got to meet him!). I've picked up the "Emperors of Soul" box set, read Otis' book, bought a couple solo David CDs, and just received the Street Gold video, which further cemented my belief that David Ruffin was an absolute genius, and makes me interested in learning more about Eddie Kendricks... his was the second perfect voice in the group, and from what I learned in the Street Gold video, he seemed like quite a good man.... "Don't look back" as Paul sang... "Temptations Forever!" Looking forward to learning more and getting to know you all.... Ruff (aka Jeremy)
