This is intriguing.
"Farewell My Love"...good timing or coincidence? I posted this on iMusic back in Spring 2000. This was Al's last song with the Tempts, so it's as if it was a message from the Tempts to their fans.
I love Melvin's "boom booms" on this tune!
Is David's last name spelled "Ruffing" on purpose or is that a type-o?

Naw, the David Ruffing line was done on purpose... I should call him Davis Ruffin instead... My favorite part of "Farewell My Love" are the harmonies. That's bootiful!!!

As Melvin got older and unable to move as he had in the past,he began just standing at the end on a lot of songs and making bass as he went along. It was truely awesome to hear. Songs that I never heard the bass before became incredible when Melvin did that. He would dance some and stand some, dance some and stand some and when he stood he tore it up with his great bass. As time went on he had to leave the stage and it hurt me to not see him there bercause it was his bass and Eddie's tenor that defined the Temptations sound for me.

they did the best they could with the conditions they were in. they did a fabulous job and if they didn't get up on the stage and do their act, they might've died sooner.

There is something to what you just said suk......Melvin lived and died to be a Temptation. I can't speak for how the others felt but my time with him showed me he was proud to be a Temptation, knew what it meant to be a Temptation and acted like a Temptation is supposed to act whenever you saw him.

yes, i agree with you completely. i know the miniseries was major fiction and flawed, but i can't help thinking that's the feeling they wanted to portray when poopie says ''i 'm gonna die'' if he doesn't get back up on that stage and sing and dance.

If Paul really said that to Otis (cant trust the movie) and I was Otis, that might haunt me a little. "Man, I'm gonna die; I swear I'm gone die"

well, drama helps ratings. but the sentiment might have been real. I agree 100% I felt the same way...about Poopie. Some people want things so bad in life and if they dont have that anymore then they cant go on...and in my heart I believe that about Paul...I could be wrong and heck i probably am...I mean what do i know(barely anything about the C5)...but either way thats what I believe. Its just a feeling I have inside.

Kikiaj, that's how I was feeling about Paul. He had been singing and performing his entire life, and then all of a sudden he wasn't able to do that anymore. It's like his livelihood was taken away, and I'm not completely sure what that does to a person, but I imagine that it can be very damaging.
