"Girl I can't belieeeeeeeve my ears, are you really tellin 'me goodbye...see you've taken away, my reason for livin' and you won't even tell me why... I adore this song. I don't know what kind of day David and the rest of the Tempts were having but I swear I can hear the pain in Davids voice. If I had one wish it would be to see this performed LIVE. I would just fallout right then and there...

Yay! Someone finally started a new thread! I've always thought of this song as a dedication ............ from us to the classic Tempts. "I can't belive my ears, are you really telling me goodbye" (David and Eddie) "See you've taken away my reason for living" (Melvin) and the sad, sad line that is characteristic of so many suicides "and you won't even tell me why!" (Paul)

I believe that on that tune as well as Ain't Too Proud....David was asked to sing it one octave higher than he normally sings. That gives him that kind of painful sound Norman was looking for. it is the second best song David did as a Temptaion after My Girl. My Girl I Could Never... Ain't too Proud... All I Need I'm Losing You

That's what Davie said?? All these years, I thought it was: Merle, I can't believe, I hear Are you really baking me a pie? So you're baking away, seasonings are hidden, And you won't even tell me why? Before I roll on the floor, There's something I want you to know, That I could never hug another after hugging you!!! Oohwho!! You guys are the best!!!!

David sounds very emotional on "I Wish It Would Rain" too. They did a good job putting "passion" into the music. Like on the miniseries, Norman's response as to why he used Dennis's daddy's death date in "Papa Was A Rollin' Stone", to add passion. Hey, by the way, is that true? Makes sense.

Hey Mike...I wonder why that song doesn't get more play. That is one of their best songs. That was the song I tried to sing back in the day with Glenn on the corner but I didn't have the goods so I went to park and started bustin' em' em' up there!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D

Earthangel...in a word, NO (sorta) about the date of Dennis's Dad's death. I have heard an interview with Dennis, where he states that his father actually died on OCTOBER 3. His upset over the similarity[/b] of the dates lasted about five minutes (his words). Their real problem with the song is that each and every one of them HATED the intro, thought it was too long, and would kill the record, so they sang with gritted teeth. This may be one (excellent) reason why the artists weren't given much leeway in the choice of songs they recorded

I've heard "Since I Lost My Baby" on the radio once and I've heard "The Girl's Alright with Me" several times. I couldn't believe that! Oh and I know we were talking Ruffin leads...
