Can Richard sing this song? Should Dennis have sung this song? Should Otis have sang this song? Why did they choose Rich to do this one? Who's Got Harrah's on CD? Yes ,Richard can sing the song. Dennis had enough songs to sing..........they didn't want it to be called DENNIS EDWARDS & THE TEMPTATIONS..so others had to sing sometimes. ;D

Can Richard sing this song? Should Dennis have sung this song? Why did they choose Rich to do this one? They seemed to give a lot of Ruffin's signature songs to Richard, which didn't bother me then or now; I like Richard, & I think he's a great singer & performer. He certainly had the right pedegree as well, having been a former Distant. The ironic thing is if Paul's health hadn't given out & he stayed with the group, he would probably have been doing all those songs in concert instead. Maybe they would have gotten Richard in the band after Ruff left & Paul would have been the Tempts' soul shouter? In fact, if you compare the Lps pre & post Edwards, after Ruffin left & the Tempts got on that Sly Stone vocal sharing bag, Paul had more to do...he even got more leads on Lp tracks as well, as Dennis wasn't really foisted on the public as Ruffin's "replacement lead singer" per se. Not yet, anyway.

Hey, I thought all threads in the Listening Room were supposed to have AUDIO clips with them!!! Seriously, I think Dennis had/s this thing about singing Ruffin's songs. Maybe he thinks he can't do them justice, but "Losing You" proved that theor wrong, so who knows.

Richard? NO!! Dennis? NO!! Otis H_LL NO!! I guess Richard begged for a lead. I don't think Richard had to "beg" for anything. Otis has said many times the guys in the group all loved Richard's singing & thought he should get more leads. As Dennis got more of the leads on the singles, I think they just wanted to distribute the songs in the live show a bit more fairly. It also gave Dennis a break during the set; you know all that squalling can tear your throat up if you're not carefull (especially if you're doing "other stuff" on you own time), & Dennis needed to have a voice left for the next gig, & the one after that, etc.

They gave Paul My Girl to sing...if you listen to "LIVE AT THE COPA...Dennis did "I Wish It Would Rain","I Could Never Love Another", "The Impossible Dream"..On Motown 25...he did Ain't Too Proud To Beg...as well as he did it on TCB. The Tempts Live in England video,he did "Since I Lost My Baby". I can't see the reason for thinking that he "thinks" that he can't do them Justice.Didn't seem that way at Ruffin's funeral.

I have Harrah's on VHS.... and I'm sorry, but I always fast forward through Richard singing "IWIWR." "Sunshine, blue skies *PLEASE* go away." I can't say who should have been doing it.... it's so perfect with David's plaintive delivery. I'm not sure who could have done it justice. You know I love Dennis.... not sure how it would sound with Dennis on lead. It's just made for David. Peach
