Okay, Nupe. Of course the names David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks and Dennis Edwards are synonymous with Temptations signature sound . That's something that we all know as fans of the group. Usually those of us who are fanatics are the ones who know those other names anyway. Most of the "average" persons wouldn't even know who Richards Street is either. I'm a big Aretha Franklin fan. But I don't really remember her sisters' names who sang background for her. I'm a big Prince fan. But I don't know every single band member he ever hired.

The reason Richard sang My Girl is because Dennis refused to sing it, So they gave it to Paul and he sung it until he left the group and since Dennis was still in the group, it fell to Richard to sing it until Ali began singing it just before Richard left the group. I saw Ali sing it in Atlantic City while Richard was still in the group and I knew something was up. Shortly after that Richard was gone. I say that again because there was a method to the madness. Ali was as good as they come and didnt get the resepct he deserved just as Glenn never got his due.

But it sure did get better with the Ali/Theo set. Notice that not too many of Ali's leads are performed by the current lineup. Not because the songs weren't good, but because no one can actually do it. Only 2 former Tempts leads were as good as or better than Ali. You all know who they were. The 2 Hall of Famers who sang in that same slot.

outsing any lead singer who ever stood behind a Temptations microphone. His energy, technique, precision, style, swagger were matchless!!!!
