As I said before, can't choose a better movie, love 'em both. But...5H has Leon in jeans....with kids, nothing cuter!!

I liked both movies but I must say that the Tempts movie is the best! The Five Heartbeats was good but I did not watch it a million times like I did the Tempts.

The Temptations. The impact it had on me and others was tremendous and unbelievable. I have yet to understand exactly why that miniseries had such an impact on me. I rather wish Otis had taken Terron and Christian into the Temptations. Both have excellent voices.

I loved the five heartbeats, so much that I bought the soundtrack, and I can't get ENOUGH of Michael Wright. He is by no means handsome in a normal way...but I find him suprisingly attractive. The way he performs those songs...just...

I liked The five heartbeats but I loved the Temptations movie better. Reasons... *I enjoy the acting talent and comedy of Robert Townsend, but he shouldnt direct movies! *The five heartbeats are loosely based on 3 real groups, The Dells, The Temptations, and a little bit of the 4 tops. The story is somewhat realistic in this sense. *Although told in Otis's view, The Temptations were the real deal. *The Five Heartbeats are self proclaimed to be "better than" The Temptations, which is too much because arent they based on them? Hmm...are you aloud to be better than someone your based on? *The Temptations in those days, especially with David on lead??.....OH HEEEELLLL NOO!!!! Theyd mop the floor with the 5H! Sorry Eddie (5H), you good but you aint no DAVID RUFFIN!!!! *Although it was a theatrical release, The 5H was just too much as far as the story went. I mean come on, they break out into song in 5H! What the hell is that! It wasnt supposed to be a musical! And sometimes it was a little too dark, for instance when their manager was murdered. *And after all the drama, including 5H lead "Eddie" who gets shot robbing a liqour store, they all survive, have a BBQ and go on to live happliy ever after! ? *I always get the feeling that "The (5H)" was most likely made because they probably couldnt make an official Temptations movie at that time, perhaps being made so soon around the time David Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks death. Its like they wanted to tell a general story without telling "THE" story. but thats just me.

Did anybody catch the part where duck is playing a keytar (keyboard guitar) The year says 1972 shortly after. It just seemed too over the top and out of period for someone to be playing a keytar. Especially, the type of music they were playing. Sorry, I had to nock on the 5H movie one last time. Classic Tempts forever!!!!!!

I LINE THE 5 HEARTBEATS, BUT THE TEMPTS HAD ME ATTACHED TO IT FOR MONTHS. I know right? Ive seen the movie more times than I can count since 98. Ive only seen the 5H movie maybe 4 or 5 times since it came out in the early 90's. They lost me at "Better than the Temptations"... That line killed it, and in a way gave the characters the obligation to live up to being in fact better than the Tempts, which we all know is impossible. haha.

Me too Jonesesgirl I love them both. Being a Temp fan and because they are a real group I lean more toward The Temps.

That Keytar scene had to have been a joke! I think folks hold 5H in high regards is because it had been a while scene a story of an R&B group came out, I guess Sparkle was the last, and bio pics of other artists followed the Heartbeats movie, Jacksons, Tina Turner, etc.

I think the Five Heartbeats copied off the Tempts when Duck was at some park, and he spotted his brother. His brother had two kids, and one of them was named Duck. Eddie (Kendricks, that is) has a son named Paul. Kinda coincidential, don't cha think? Plus, it's so sweet!!!!!
