Well, I'm giving it to Leon because he did the best over-all, but Christian wasn't too far behind. Neither of them got the recognition they deserved.
............. honorary mention goes to the guy who played Glenn AND Ron. ;D

Gotta give it Christian Payton. What an amazing performance. Leon's performance is great, to be sure, but that scene with Chris singing "For Once In My Life" is simply amazing. Honorable mention goes to Chazz Lamar Shepherd for having, by far, the best voice of any of the actors. Why he doesn't have a recording contract is beyond me. "Oh, what a night" indeed!..  Ed |

Being that this is too hard, I won't vote...Christian did way too good of a job for me to vote for Leon...and LEon's acting was SUPERB, no way I'd vote for Chrsitian over him...and plus it's not fair. Christian's my husband, so it'd be totally biased |

Good poll....I had to think hard about this one. I loves me some Terron, but it seems like Leon brought David back to life. So I'll have to go with Leon. Maybe it's because he resembled David. "You wish you could work it like me, but you can't, cuz there's only one David Ruffin..." OUTSTANDING! But I'll tell you the truth - they ALL did a great, fabulous, excellent, spectacular, fantastic, teriffic, and outstanding job. Each and every one of them!  |

Dang no one voted 4 Terron Brooks??? LOL guess he wasn't convincing nobody that he was EJK, huh... ;D Okay, I have 2 choose 3 of the guys...Leon, without a doubt, made me believe that he was Ruff...until he started sangin "Ain't 2 Proud 2 Beg"...  He didn't sound nothing like David in that scene, no way. Christian Payton...OH YEAH!  Now I saw a lot of Paul's mannerisms in him, especially the dancing... like Missy E. said, WORK IT! He was totally convincing as PW. And the dark horse comin up...Charles Malik Whitfield as Otis...  I'll tell yall why. He made me dislike him just as much as I dislike Otis... But I heard Charles is cool.  My co-worker went to school with him, and they still runnin buddies... |

what happened to the dog? Even if Ogden had been included in the poll, I still thought Christian's performance was more heart-wrenching. Not by much though, to be sure. One subtle twitch of his tail at a pivotal moment can just really bring it home. He certainly gave an affecting performance. Ed |

And then, he smiles in every scene. Smokey smiled a lot. He was really in character. And he namechecked Claudette, saying she was in the car. That was nice. So my vote goes to EMT.
No, really, I think Leon did a fine job, even though the David role was a bit exaggerated to push someone's agenda, but Leon did rise to the occasion with his roleplaying. Gotta love that dude.
And Terron, all I can do is look and siiiiiiiiigh.
