OK, how about this. What makes Otis successful as a man? Not as a performer, group member, or businessman but as a man. My point of reference regarding Otis is I'll admit VERY limited, the book, movie, and what I've read here. So educate me about Otis.

You have a point there. I'll bet those guys were challenging to say the least. ;D
You have your usual group dynamics that's there whenever there is a group of any kind. On top of that you have five very talented individuals. How many horror stories do you hear about just individual performers and the hell they put those around them through? So you can only imagine what went on.

Sometimes, i think it's better not to imagine what went on.

What makes Otis successful as a man?
Um ............ he's been in a group for forty years that has have multiple Grammy wins and platinum selling records, set the standard for other groups to follow all without singing lead on more than like five songs, none of which anyone listened to more than twice.
How's that?

I don't mean as an entertainer ...as a man. Like Haze mentioned in the movie As for being in a group for forty years. I don't see that as big as an accomplishment as say the Four Tops who who's members remained a constant. With Otis' groups although the name remained the same, in reality it was more like he was a member of many groups when you stop to count all of the various combinations that have been called the Temptations. Which brings up a new question (Ivory don't :bonk: with that famous Tennessee hickory, may have to come back with a nice WV willow switchLOL). Which would be more difficult. maintaining a constant group for 40 years or breaking in new guys at intervals over a forty year period? Tess

How do you differentiate between the two?

as successful career in no way needs a successful person. there is more to life than a career. success is living up to your fullest potential. success isn't meeting your potential in one area. one can be great at one thing and terrible in a great many other things. Though we may emphasize his success as a tempt, it's not the only thing in which he has that can be judged for potential.
