it's a racist movie! it says the curse of the black pearl? black is beautiful! pearls are white, but maybe the black pearl is the shiniest and best of all! why not call it the curse of the orange pearl? why does it always have to be black? when james my son who's black puertorican and i went to see the hulk movie, the first guy to die was a black guy. james says it always seems the black guy is an insignificant role player and usually dies first in monster movies.

There are orange pearls??? Black can be beautiful but it's obvious that a lot of times black represents darkness and gloom. In the movie they're using it in this sense. Who determined that black would represent darkness and gloom, I dunno, but that's the way it is. Reminds me of Malcolm X (the movie) when they look up black in the dictionary. I really wouldn't care to see the movie...but my friend's a sukka for stuff like this, and it's gonna be one of the rare times I get to spend some time with her, being that she lives in Va and me, Ga. Yea Sukka, the black dude always dies first...some movies are getting better with it though...they let him die 2nd or 3rd, but in the end, he dies

Black Pearl is the name of the ship that is cursed. Black is just supposed to sound scary or something. Like, ghosts and stuff are around in the black of night type of scary. It just wouldn't be the same if Captin Jack Sparrow said "Look out! It's the Orange Pearl!"

it is pronounced by disney as the latter.
we however consider the former as the way to say it. it is acceptable to say both ways according to webster.
