Well, in his defense, it is theoretically possible that EVERYONE knew Bo was leaving except Bo. I've heard tales like that before. But just like David's departure or Richard's or whomevers, since we weren't there, we'll never know the WHOLE truth. I don't know why not,we have seen the KNIFE TO BACK job over and over! This is typical Otis manuvers! Even you have to see that! :yourock:

Kalisa, Your options are logical, but... In a recent case, in a different field I saw where a major figure did not read any of the signs that the rest of the world knew and was surprised to be "fired" or not "renewed." Since the reporters had been writing about this possible scenario for months, I could not believe that this major figure was not aware, and he was really surprised and angry, about what was coming up. My possibilities were: He never read the newspapers. He never watched television or listened to the radio. He never went on the Internet and cruised. His lawyers and advisers never did either of the above either. He was surrounded by advisers/friends who always told him what they thought he wanted to hear and never told him the truth about the world. The only people he ever talked to were "yes" people. He was aware of this possibility but just didn't believe it. And then add to the last suggestion that everyone around him thought the same thing. Now I always thought his family was intelligent so where they were during all of this I have no idea. I was certainly aware of what was coming up, and I am on the fringes of information and thousands of mile away from where things were happening. These were not things that were being cautiously mentioned on the Internet. They were in every form of media. The strange thing here is that in cases like this, it is handled so that no one "loses face." But in this particular case everyone lost face. And that is what puzzles me. (It was not in the entertainment field.) Remember at the 25th Motown show during the Tempts and Tops act when Levi sings, "Someone taking your place" and Ali wonders if he will be taking Dennis' place. Obviously everyone knew something was coming up. I think in the Bo situation, everyone knew it was coming up. :sleepy: :computer: :read: :hairraiser: :bs: Whatever it is that you are referring to,it sure ain't the Temptations! Woodson was reading a cuecard when he said that! Motown on Showtime! If they knew that it was coming, they would have replaced Glenn& Dennis at the same time....this way Otis wouldn't have had to bother the pre-school class to paste Ron's face over Glenn's! Woodson didn't say that stuff when he watched DENNIS go into the Hall Of Fame,or at Ruffin's funeral when he was vocally dismissed by DENNIS in front of all those people! And that's the truth!

Jane...well, I'd say that this figure you refer to had to fall under the "dumber than a box of rocks" option then, given all the avenues of knowledge you mention and in the end claiming surprise.
I left off the "Otis lied to Bo and stabbed him in the back" option someone mentioned earlier, as I felt that fit into the "Bo is dumber than..." category also, if it happened that way. With the article you Jane presented us in the beginning naming GC as one of the Temptations for the UK tour this fall, and other readily available sources, plus probably sources within the group dynamic that we don't even know about, and given the past history of the Tempts, if Otis gave Bo this "vote of confidence"...Bo still had the opportunity to see the handwriting on the wall behind him.

GC wasn't following the group and the lie was well hidden. The lie was well-hidden? Huh? Who didn't know about it? My cats were even talking about it! ;D what about...... E. GC was brought in as a threat to Bo, (just like Bo was brought in as a threat to Ali years ago) he was told that if he didn't shape up he'd be shipped out, Bo thought a threat was all it was, took his station for granted and we all know about "he that thinketh he standeth take head lest he [be put off the bus]" and assumed he was ok, Bo didn't shape up and now's he's sitting at home with a bunch of uniforms that he can't wear. For what it's worth, and this is PURELY speculation on my part, no basis for it in truth at ALL, but I think our Mr. Henderson was being a little less than honest with either us or himself, one or the other.

That also falls under the "dumber than a..." option, so as far as I can see we're still left with two. Any of the leads who were told to "shape up or you're out" with another singer there as a threat had only to look at history, starting with Ruffin. If he could be replaced....well, DUH!!! My own personal speculation based exactly the same as yours, Ivory, has led me to the same conclusion you've reached .

someday you're gonna be lonely but you won't find me around,
lies, lies, breaking my heart''- the knickerbockers,1965 :yourock: :dancing:
