Thanks for the link tdallasw, heard a few cuts from the cd, they sound OK. I think he's better as a Tempt than a solo singer. But who knows? Maybe Bo knows ;D.

Yep, the picture on the web site is better. Never could understand how people can't tell their best pictures.
AKA,
All of the Temptations were/are better as Tempts. I have several theories as to why this is so. It's interesting to think about and explore with other groups. And with Smokey, I'll never understand exactly why he split with Miracles and then had to hire four people to tour with him and sing backup. Makes no sense.

The Tempts were better when the ones who left were there! Do they sip out of a Temptations fountain and automatically have an elixir that makes them awesome? Of course all Temptations are better as Temptations... that name is instantly recognizable thanks to great promotion. But they aren't made great by being Temptations. Promotion matters in the music industry. The Temptations had it. Solo David Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks didn't have it. As a result neither enjoyed the solo success they deserved. Bottom line. But, the brute facts are, if David had been a lifelong Voicemaster... we'd be playing the Voicemasters. Had he been a Prime... go Primes. The Temptations didn't make him good... he added something to it. The Temptations didn't make Melvin Williams the greatest bass singer ever... God did. The Temptations didn't make Eddie have a nearly perfect crystal clear heavenly voice. The Temptations didn't make Paul one of the greatest baritone voices ever. Those talents came together by divine intervention and they decided to create a group that would keep us talkin'. And they did. But had the Temptations never entered these men's lives, they'd still be legendary. Perhaps it would have just been local Detroiters saying "You remember that tall guy who always used to sing down at the Chit Chat... I always thought Motown would have been even better had they had a guy like him." But people would still be talking. Just like they all talk about Jamerson, even though his name was never on a marquee. If things were just, David, Paul, and Eddie would have Grammy awards for all singles they released with the Tempts. But, their legend looms far and wide, and that makes me happy. I hope it makes them happy too, they deserve it. Not every Temptation was created equal, as I always say. Some brought more to the table. The classics brought so much to the table, I'm still overdosing. |

1.- i like nisha- she's my lawyer whenever she wants to be!
2.- ivory- i am not against bo- 50 girls are probably! no .really- he's a fine singer- he just butchered ain't too proud to beg when i saw the 3.5 show last yr.
he should've sang- ain't too proud to improvise too much!
maybe this collection is the ticket for him- if it's more contemporary mood stuff... then it could be his way out of the group. then gc can show them how it's done!
