I would probably like listening to him if he were not a Temptation. He is way too far of a departure from the celebrated leads of the past. His work on the classics is nothing short of dissappointing. saw him try to do Can't get Next To You, didn't work, His rendition of Error of Our Ways, just wasn't happening. I think he would do well as a solo artist in the Luther Vandross vain.

Hi everybody ! If you look closely at any of the quote, unquote great singers of our or any time , you'll find that they put their own unique style into the music they did. Luther Vandross, Frank Sinatra, Aretha, Dino, Anita Baker and others had there own style that defined who they were and made it easy to distinguish their music from anyone else. It was the same with the classic 5 and the HOF6 they were unique in their own right. In this day when every vocalist that comes along sounds like every other singer that has come along before. I mean almost every male singer today in urban and hip hop sounds like a poor imitation of Stevie Wonder or Luther. I applaude Terry and Ron for being themselves. They could have tried to be poor imitations of pass members ( Damon did it when he replaced Eddie, sounded so much like him that he left no strong identifiable mark that was unique to Damon in the groups history). Why do you think it is that people always talk about their favorite Eddie or Glen song, its because they put their on stamp on the material given to them. Dennis replaced David and sounded nothing like him when the pressure on him was tremendous at the height of the Wish it Would Rain album in 1968. People everywhere wondered who on God's green earth could replace Ruffin. Dennis won critics worldwide over with the release of the Live at the Copa album, doing pass Temptations hits and doing his on style . His live version of I Could Never Love Another was incredible. Richard replaced Paul and sounded but but quickly let it be known that he was a force to be reckoned with. Terry is a tremendous vocalist with his own sound that gives a new direction to the Temptation legacy . His voice has complimented Theo's, Bo's and G C voice incredibly when sharing leads with them and on his own solo material, the same goes for Ron too. The Classic 5 and the HOF 6 were unique, refreshing and new and their music still stands the test of time but those days are long gone . The closes thing to that Temptation sound of yesterday is the Review and until Dennis' group starts recording new material .... It is 2004 . Things change , Motowns changed, the business changed and so have the Tempts, get over it. Embrace and enjoy the music that we have today . In a world of body songs , sex songs , sound alikes and here today and gone tomorrow cookie cutter manufactured artist. It is indeed a pleasure to listen to This Is My Promise, I'm Here, Four Days and Baby Its Me and see the quality of the songs, the production and the vocals and know its better than 80% of whats being promoted as music today. I salute you Terry Weeks and the rest of the post HOF6 Temptations for being yourselves and giving us some the most romantic music around today .

One of the points you make that I agree with totally is that the REview sounds the closest to the Classic Temptations...............I like that......well said....and also we will see what we get from them when they give us new material............are we gonna force them to sing it live or are we still gonna allow them to sing the classics, since that is what they make their living on........interesting to say the least............ ;D

Aba! Is that true ... even now that the Temptations have Joe and GC? I think they come very, very close to the C5 ...

Yes I even agree with Mike that the Review sings the classics better than the Temptations.......but I still like The Temptations...........they have a great new sound and GC gives them the soul they lacked when Bo was out front...........no knock on Bo but he wasn't a soul singer like GC is..........he was from the new breed of singers.

Change is the hardest thing in the world to except but things change. I saw Boyz to Men on june 5th and I was surprised at how unimpressed I was with there live performance. No band, music recorded and the over singing was rampant . Todays Tempts and the Review are the best vocal groups out today in secular music.

Hi,everyone.I was on stage with Terry on the Oprah show and the thing I heard was his part as clear as could be and he took care of his business. He is Terry Weeks. That is fact.He was not waiting for anything he was leaning foward all the time.Come and catch me is how I saw it and he works so hard.I love the guy, because of his work and he is a beautiful person, and so is Otis,If people get to know him.At the airport in The Windy City,we all had a great time.Otis,Ron Terry Bo,and Harry at the time was so much fun to be with. When we arrived at the airport, the Tempts was lined up aganist the wall and no one saw them, until we came in and the fun began.People came from everywhere, taking pictures and getting autographs.Otis and Terry were very pleasant and it was a good time.I have to say Ron,is so cool. The man has it going on.I want them to stay the way they are and everything will be ok..............James

Terry is, as I've said in one of my earlier posts, isn't a typical Temptations sounding vocalist. He really reminds me of Donny Hathaway and Freddie Jackson. He also has the kind of voice that could have given him a successful solo career if he had not become a member of the Temptations. I'd love to hear him sing 'A Song For You', the Donny Hathaway version - which is better than the Temptations' version. Just give him piano accomaniment and the mic.

I think I see where you are coming from but the thing with the Tempts is that you come to the shows as much or more for the old songs as you do the new. When they step up to the Mike to sing Can't Get Next to You, Cloud Nine, Beauty is Only Skin Deep, I'm Losing You etc. you want to hear it sung in such a manner that you don't wish for the original. Unfortunately thats where Terry Weeks is inadequate. There wasn't a song that David or Dennis did that Ali coudn't do because he was truly a Temptation, sorry I just don't get that with Terry, no disrespect cause he can sing.
