Lets talk about the cut Backstage. What do you think of it and why with seven Temps singing on the cut they used Billy Durrham as a additional background singer ? I think that David and Eddie only sang on " Standing On The Top" and "You Better Beware"

Along with MORE ON THE INSIDE by Smokey was one of the two or three that I really like. We have talked many times about how the reunion lp was poorly done but BACKSTAGE was a good Dennis vehicle. I didn't realize they used additional background singers on it. I like almost anything Dennis sings and it told a good story.

David and Eddie joined the Tempts on that cut? Cool. I didn't realize that. As for the song, I've give it 3 stars. It's one of those I catch myself singing the hook on, so I guess that qualifies it as a good song.

I'm almost sure Ruffin and Kendricks weren't on Backstage. The Reunion album seemed to be "Standing on the Top", a lead for David, then cuts for a future Temptations album.(The CD has two additional cuts, one featuring Dennis and David.)
That's what Reunion is to me, a slapped together, disappointing album...

Mikey,
They aren't anything special. Backstage and More On the Inside are better than Diamond In The Sky, the third of Smokey's songs on the album.
The music forDon't Hold It In isn't great, but we get to hear David and Dennis.
There is a reason why these songs were unreleased. Think about it. Seven songs on a Reunion album featuring five of the first seven Temptations. Who came up with that number?
Blame the executive producer for this mess...

And Kendu's right... Unless Billy Durham is a pal of Smokey's, what the heck is a background singer doing on a record with Street, Ruffin, OWilliams, Leonard, Edwards, Franklin and Kendricks?
Blame the executive producer for this mess...
