Yeah he was a cutie. Wasn't he in "Cotton Comes To Harlem" too? I think he portrayed the crooked preacher. ABA this is the picture that you have in your music room right? www.erniebarnes.com/sugs.JPG [/IMG]

Another good feature of the dvd is the lyrics of "Good Times" are inside. I have been singing incorrect words for almost 30 years. ;D

He had one of my favorite movie lines........... from the one I mentioned above, he and this guy who is supposed to be pro football player are at a party. The football guy is talking to this girl and Calvin cuts in, the first guy says something like, "you don't want to be with him, I'm a big, rich athelete" and Calvin looks at her and says, "yeah, but I'm pretty!" Speaking of the Good Times lyrics.......... Good Times. Any time you meet a payment. Good Times. Any time you need a friend. Good Times. Any time you're out from under. Not getting hastled, not getting hustled. Keepin' your head above water, Making a wave when you can. Temporary lay offs. Good Times. Easy credit rip offs. Good Times. Scratchin' and surviving. Good Times. Hangin in a chow line Good Times. Ain't we lucky we got 'em Good Times. Is that right Kim? (I looked it up)

how norman lear sequels started---
first he produced all in the family-then he spun off the jeffersons from there.
then he had edith's cousin maude appear-and she had her own successful show. maude's maid was florida evans-and that spun off to good times.
3 long lasting shows from all in the family, not to mention archie bunker's place and gloria, which were less successful. ahhh, the 70's.
of course, from sanford and son came chico and the man.

Dnice you are right. That is one of my favorite (non -James) episode. The woman who played his mother is Myra on "Martin" and she also played in an earlier role on "Good Times" she was the first woman to portray Sweet Daddy Williams girlfriend Savanah. Her first appearance on the show is my all time hands down favorite episode of "Good Times" (JJ painted a picture of her and she hated it). Ivory those are the correct lyrics. I've always wondered how could temporary lay-offs and easy credit rip offs equal good times?
