war is evident. the pres wants to rid the world of sadaam hussein. i agree wholeheartedly! we should get rid of the murderous hitler like dictator!
BUT NOT THIS WAY,PAL!
WHY NOT?
1- NO ALLIES BUT BRITISH PRIME MINISTER AND SPAIN
2- EXTREMELY COSTLY FINANCIALLY
3- WE HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFUL SO FAR IN CRACKING DOWN ON TERRORISM AND HIGHTENED SECURITY AND HAVE GOTTEN COOPERATION FROM PAKISTAN IN FLUSHING OUT THE AL QAEDA LEADERS.
4- EXTREMELY COSTLY TO OUR MILITARY AND TO OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN IRAQ
5- WEAPONS INSPECTORS ARE GETTING SOME SUCCESS- THEY NEED TO GIVE THEM MORE SUPPORT AND WORLD PRESSURE FROM THE NEIGHBORS TO GET RID OF THE IRAQI ARSENAL.
6- IF BUSH IS TELLING THE TRUTH AND SAYING INSIDERS AND CIA OPERATIVES ARE UNDERCOVER AND WITNESSING MORE WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION BEING BUILT, THEN THEY ARE SNEAKY ENOUGH TO TAKE HUSSEIN OUT WITHOUT BOMBING THE INNOCENT.
7- TERRORISTS ATTACKED US. WE WERE NOT INVADED BY A COUNTRY BUT AN ORGANIZATION. WE ARE SUCCESSFULLY INFILTRATING, CORRUPTING AND THWARTING THAT ORGANIZATION,AND OUR HEIGHTENED SECURITY AND AWARENESS SHOULD BE A DETERRENT.
8- PRAY FOR PEACE. BRING OUR MILITARY HOME. SPEND 80 BILLION DOLLARS ON A STIMULUS FOR THE ECONOMY NOT ON BOMBS AND BULLETS.
9- IF WE ARE DECLARED WAR AGAINST, LET US FIGHT OUR ENEMY. BUT WE ARE NOT DECLARED WAR AGAINST FROM ANY NATION.

I feel like I'm riding on a bus, and there's some crazy dude wearing a cowboy hat sitting at the wheel. 1&-) And do y'all remember during the debates Bush was asked about his foreign policy knowledge (or lack there of) and his answer was, "Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh...... "

It don't take no policy to see we are under attack! Let's wait unilt they hurt some more people over here, huh? We've been at war since 9/11. You didn't realize it. It is just intensifying now. We have had troops in the middle east since the WTC. Why are these troops any different?

i agree aba! we have been under attack from osama bin laden and the al qaeda- so what have we done to retaliate? we went to afghanistan, we bombed and took prisoners, we destroyed lots of weapons and killed a few soldiers, we also thwarted a few other plots to do sabotage to us. we've uncovered more al qaeda operatives, we've arrested the leader of osama bin laden who masterminded 9-11, we've heightened security, we've taken major precautions for our sporting events, dams, power plants, airports, etc. we've developed anthrax serum, we've thwarted the anthrax mail scare, we're investigating this latest chinese disease that's pneumonia -like. we've given sadaam hussein 12 years to give up his ways and to disarm. he continues to refuse to accept world opinion and un resolution 1441. so we're going in and blow his butt off the face of the earth- or are we? 1977 geneva switzerland- we signed an agreement not to assassinate leaders of other countries. so if we kill sadaam, they'd be going after bush! or blair! we just have to drive him out, try him at the world court in the hague, netherlands, then jail him forever, then put in another less wacko prez that charges us less $$ for oil!

i am against war. i am totally for america. so if we must do the right thing, even if it's unpopular, then we must. i do it with utmost reluctance and sadness. i also want kiki and the other folks like my dear friend ricardo aguilar who has a wife and 4 children -he's over there and he's just a reservist- HOME!
when i was a little boy, i was a pointdexter brainiac that didn't play sports, skipped a grade, won spelling bees and essay contests and poetry awards. some kids would make fun of me when i swung and missed, or ran the wrong way. one kid who was bigger than me by almost a head was michael adesso. he kept picking on me and picking on me-i ignored him.he tripped me and down went my books, papers, whatever. then he'd step on them with shoes to make a footprint on my homework or project.
so one day, going off the bus, he challenged me to fight. he pushed me from behind as i was getting off the bus. i said to him -i can't stand you adesso- i saw flaming red- i beat him up so bad, he wasn't even able to punch . my mother came over to pull me off of him. he was bawling like a baby.
you think he had enough?that was 3rd grade. it happened again in 6th and in 9th. 3 times i had to get this kid off of me.each time i kicked his butt.
another kid did that to me - poured milk over my head at lunch in 8th grade. taunting and goading- wouldn't let me walk away.

so anthony cavano had his friends surround me to force a fight. they went behind me and he pushed me over his friend's body. i went down, then anthony jumped on top. i went nuts and beat his butt. the principal came out to suspend me -then after he heard THE TRUTH-i got nothing and he got 3 days . when i moved to maryland there was a kid named mark angelini- he hated my ny accent and wouldn't stop taunting me.he kept asking me to fight him. i refused. he pushed me in front of the library- so i lifted him up and stuffed him in the garbage can. michael, and mark are my friends to this day by the way. WHAT'S THE POINT SUKKAFU? WHO CARES ABOUT YOUR CHILDHOOD DUMBSTUFF ANYWAY? MY RESPONSE IS - DON'T FIGHT. BUT IF YOU HAVE TO- KICK THEIR BUTTS AND MAKE IT SWIFT AND TERRIBLE JUSTICE- THEN THEY'LL KNOW YOU 'RE NOT TO BE DISTURBED !

I feel Bush really didn't think this thing out completely and I am still convinced that it is a matter of revenge... killing two birds with one stone... while although the world would probably be a better place without Saddam in power, Bush own words still ring in my ears, "After all, this is a guy who tried to kill my dad."
Last night I saw where on January 20, 2000, Bush already had this in his plans in his inauguration speech. 9/11 just jumpstarted it... and I question Bush's supposed knowledge of the threat proir to 9/11... did he wait until something happened to help carry out his agenda?
I am not sold on Hussein being an immediate threat to us here. Sure he's a liar, emotionally and mentally unstable, and did violate his end of UN agreements, but I think he's more of a threat to the countries surrounding him and they had not been complaining. We may just be pushing him into doing something. Not only that, when we attack them, let's put up a banner on our country saying "Now Open to More Attacks." Although Bush may think this may help in the "War on Terrorism" he is creating an atmosphere where more terrorists will be given more incentive to strike at us. I hate being hated. I hate being hated by people who think I hate them.
One of my friends and I had an argument on it last night. He was stating what Saddam does in his country. He's a dictator, that's what dictators do! No one is supposed to oppose you! My friend said after Saddam we'll go after more dictators. I really do not have a problem with Castro and there is no need to do anything with him. I think my friend has hopped on the bandwagon trying to make countries we don't like change into our little pet yes men by changing their governments and turning them into democracies like ours. Not everyone is supposed to be like us! Not everyone is going to lay down for us! I tried to ask my friend to think if it were the other way around. Would we allow our President to be asked to step down because someone didn't like him? If someone threatened to invade us, would we do as they said and not fight and get rid of our weapons? Can someone assassinate our President and get away with it? No.
Does the US use propaganda? Does the US government hide things? Yes. I feel we're doing what we're fighting against. Everyone has to go along with it and if you believe otherwise, you're in trouble. Freedom of speech against the issue is throw out the window. If people elsewhere don't support us, we ridicule them. I am tired of us bossing people around and thinking everyone will go along. My friend believed there was no problem with throwing our weight and way around the world just because we can. It shocked me when he said "so what?" I fear one day the world won't stand for our attitude and humble us, no matter how much they love us or need us. I just wish we could make amends and just be friends. We should not ignore people and make them think we don't care or hate them.
Then again what do I know? I just babbled away. I don't even know if I was logical or made sense. I just feel it's not up to us to do this and fear the consequences and precedence it sets. I'm still proud of the country but not everything it does is honorable. I wish and hope for the best for our troops and the innocents. I hope it's a success and I am wrong about what I think may happen to us for years afterward because of what we do and our attitude. I hope the future is bright for all.
In a final note, I've been enoying FRENCH fries and FRENCH toast. I'd never made French toast myself and it was so delicious. I think I'll do it again. I also believe renaming things and wasting wine you paid for is not really going to accomplish anything. It's good to be patriotic but come on! Oh well it's their right, and the Dixie Chicks can say whatever they want as long as they don't say people should attack us. People joke and talk about he President all the time, love him or hate him... we still have that right.

you make some good points cadeho. but since sadaam hussein helped fund the people who killed my son's sister in law, and some of our friends in wtc, i say let's get him!
we are not raping and killinging political prisoners. we are not invading kuwait for oil. we are not funding al qaeda terrorists and knowingly allowing them to train in our country.
we are not aiming 767 jets at buildings. we are not strapping bombs to people as human shields and sacrifices.
the funny thing is i wonder if you could e mail me and formulate your opinions from iraq? it would be interesting to see if you could do what you're doing right now from your house if you lived in iraq. see if you could express yourself so freely. i like french toast and french fdries, but i eat neither for the carbs, not for the french.
war is horrible, painful, disgusting, sad, insane, mad, awful- and sometimes necessary.
every freedom you and i enjoy has been fought for and earned by the blood of brave men and women. nothing comes easy. kikiaj is going to try to uphold those freedoms.
you don't want anyone to hate you?
sadaam already hated you before 9-11. moamar kaddafhi of libya hates you. castro hates you. dictators are not in anyone's best interest, but we can't save every country- but we can prevent further damge to us.
there was a guy like you -called neville chamberlain. he was prime minister of great britain. he disliked intensely, but didn't want war. so he tried to negotiate with hitler. in the meantime, while he was calling for peace, adolf took over czechoslovakia, alsace -lorraine in france, austria, sudetenland, and then finally when invaded poland, britain went to war with germany. when winston churchill took over from chamberlain, that's when the brits dug deep and hitler never took over london. you represent good and evil never likes good.

It's interesting that you say that Cadeho. I had FRENCH fries today at lunch. They were kind of cold, but I ate them anyway. I love French toast as well (when I can get my hands on it). My ma used to make it all the time when I was younger. Really, renaming fries "freedom fries" or "American fries" isn't going to do much, especially since fries aren't really French in the first place.

French Onion Soup would be the breath violator.

He did? I missed the concrete proof of that. I don't think we have the right to draw links from coincidences and character assessments. We can blame every Arabic country if we have that right.
We should take that 200 billion dollars for war and use it to beef up our intelligence and defenses at home to make sure 9/11 doesn't happen again.
we are not raping and killinging political prisoners. we are not invading kuwait for oil. we are not funding al qaeda terrorists and knowingly allowing them to train in our country.
we are not aiming 767 jets at buildings. we are not strapping bombs to people as human shields and sacrifices.
Are we talking about Iraq? None of the highjackers were from Iraq. Some people believe we are going into Iraq for oil (I'm not one of them). I think you are grouping the radical Arabs together, however you forget why they are doing those things. They obviously do not have the same beliefs as we do such as free speech, press, etc. but they can get your attention through killing and martyrdom. They feel wronged by the US and its interests. Not only that, we don't misuse and misinterpret the Bible to justify actions. I have a Muslim friend who I am concerned about since he's become "born again." I'm learning about the frame of mind of their culture and how things can be abused for evil sake. The fanatics do not believe they are evil. We are the evil ones because of our society. We are not as pure in the eyes of Allah to them in addition to that we do not seem to favor their interests or attempt to come to a consensus. To them, they are doing the honorable work of God by attacking us to cleanse us. That's my assessment of what's going on, nothing he's said. We've had clashes lately over what is right and wrong and religion (or lack of) in our society is usually the center.
My point was we should try to change their point of view of us instead of making them more angry and willing to attack us, not changing their governments into something we'd like to see.
the funny thing is i wonder if you could e mail me and formulate your opinions from iraq? it would be interesting to see if you could do what you're doing right now from your house if you lived in iraq. see if you could express yourself so freely. i like french toast and french fdries, but i eat neither for the carbs, not for the french.
I eat my fries and toast for the taste, not the French. Fries are misnamed anyway. I just thought it absurd to act the way some people did. They aren't jumping on the backs of the Germans, Russians, and Chinese. Maybe that's because we've always had differences in our relationship... and some people think the French owe us for both world wars.
I'll e-mail you from Iraq right after I e-mail you from North Korea. So Iraqi's don't have the freedoms we do. Is the whole world supposed to fall in line behind the US? Is that this country's purpose to take over the world? We may not be invading other countries with our military or by force but we are invading them with our culture and ideas. To them that is more harmful than a marching army. Because they don't do as we do or vise-versa, we sink to their level by thinking we're right and they're wrong. Instead we should all work things out and come to an understanding instead of throwing brute testosterone around. I am also tired of being big brother and the world's authority on how everyone should live their lives. In one way we are the dictators, just less ruthless.
war is horrible, painful, disgusting, sad, insane, mad, awful- and sometimes necessary.
every freedom you and i enjoy has been fought for and earned by the blood of brave men and women. nothing comes easy. kikiaj is going to try to uphold those freedoms.
I honor that. But also in history, we thought we were doing the world some good and look, North Korea is still Communist and we lost Vietnam. Were we really fighting for our rights? Those are not even our countries. And since then, neither of them have come and taken us over. The only people I can see doing that is China, but that war is hopefully 100 years away and hopefully will be avoided if we stop butting heads with people over our differences.
you don't want anyone to hate you?
sadaam already hated you before 9-11. moamar kaddafhi of libya hates you. castro hates you. dictators are not in anyone's best interest, but we can't save every country- but we can prevent further damge to us.
Individuals hating me doesn't matter as much as a whole land of people. I don't care if Saddam, his sons, Qadhafi, Castro, Elvis, Billy Bob in Mississippi hate me. I do care if a whole population has the wrong idea about me and turns to violence to harm me. One person you can deal with, which is the case going on. I am not saying he should stay in power, but I also feel no threat from him. I do care what Kim Jong Il thinks. He is more of a threat and is more of a kook who can hit you.
Ask yourself, will war be necessary to keep us in line? Carrying on as we do now will only make us fall like the Romans. I don't want to be around when that day comes.
there was a guy like you -called neville chamberlain. he was prime minister of great britain. he disliked intensely, but didn't want war. so he tried to negotiate with hitler. in the meantime, while he was calling for peace, adolf took over czechoslovakia, alsace -lorraine in france, austria, sudetenland, and then finally when invaded poland, britain went to war with germany. when winston churchill took over from chamberlain, that's when the brits dug deep and hitler never took over london. you represent good and evil never likes good.
Has Saddam made any movements to take over any more countries since we drove him out of Kuwait? Has he been fighting Iran again (which we were on his side)? I do not think he's be foolish enough to try to invade anyone else again. Besides, when it comes to dictators, is Hitler the standard? I don't see Castro attacking Florida or taking over the island of Hispaniola. Saddam is not going to take over Israel, however if we just iron out that conflict, things might be better for all. Show that we care for Palestinians as well as Israelis and not show favoritism. Then again, why should we butt in? We need to get over ourselves and stop trying to be the world's police and boss and thinking all we do is right and everyone MUST be like us. We have out culture, they have theirs. The peoples of the world do not belong to the United States. Is that our duty as a superpower?
Will the world rejoice once Iraq is gone? Yes. Will it stop the terrorist attacks? No. We live in a world of an eye for an eye. We're taking a stab at their eye now. Don't think they'll pass on stabbing ours. Eventually when there are no eyes left, we'll all be forced just to kill everything.
Does that mean I am against our troops? No. I am thinking for the long run, not for the moment. And I will not be gung ho for something just because our leader says so and has his own personal vendetta against someone.
I pray for a speedy end to this particular conflict and brace for whatever is inevitable here now. I hope on that, I am wrong. But I also wonder, who's next? We won't be so foolish as to test ill Jong Il and put Seoul and South Korea in deeper danger. However, his country needs liberation more in my opinion. It seems even Iraq is more free than they are.
Think of me as not being patriotic if you want. I am still proud of us, but with my freedoms comes the freedom to think and write what I please and to question my world and intentions. I intend to do that and not follow the piper.
