And I think I heard Reggie Theus was 51.
This should be somewhere else like Word Association but I knew a girl named Nique. It was pronounced Nicky. Just seeing his name shortened like that produced some flashbacks. Sorry.

ah hmm....former georgia alum D. Wilkins the human highlight film was robbed of being one of the fifty greatest NBA players of the century but he played for the Hawks in Atlanta, Selfish. You might be thinking of the iceman, George Gervin who played for the spurs.

I'm an atlanta fan. He made me an atlanta fan, but he did play for the spurs. Before he went to the magic with gerald he was on the spurs. That was the year before Tim Duncan came in the league. He was the teams leading scorer that season. The Spurs were giving him no help. Thier intention was to lose and Nique didn't go there to lose. So, he went up in a blaze of glory. Scoring his tail off. Now, I know he is all atlanta, but since he's my favorite player of all time, he's my favorite Spur of all-time.
Hey, he went to your school. that's funky. He did go to your school, right?

Now, that I didn't know. Good going. I know it's about 30 years late, but good going still. I love hearing things like that. You certainly did open doors. You are a great apart of history.

1996-97: Injuries Sink Spurs, But Land Duncan The 1996-97 season was one of the most frustrating in franchise history for the San Antonio Spurs, but ultimately may turn out to be for the best.. Although the Spurs lost David Robinson to injury, managed only 20 wins and missed the playoffs for the first time since the 1988-89 season, they struck gold in the 1997 Draft Lottery, landing the first overall pick and draft rights to super prospect Tim Duncan. Injuries decimated the Spurs, none more so than that of Robinson, who returned from back problems only to suffer a broken foot. The former MVP appeared in only nine games. Chuck Person was even less fortunate, missing the entire season following back surgery. Charles Smith missed 65 games with an arthritic right knee and Sean Elliott missed 43 games with tendinitis in the right knee. The loss of those four players, each among the top six scorers from the 1995-96 team, prompted the steepest one-year decline in NBA history, from 59 wins to only 20. Another Spurs casualty was head coach Bob Hill, relieved of his duties after a 3-15 start, and replaced by General Manager Gregg Popovich, who posted a 17-47 record in his first stint as an NBA head coach. In the absence of many of his regulars, Popovich relied on a veteran crew that included free agent signees Dominique Wilkins and Vernon Maxwell and the familiar backcourt duo of Vinnie Del Negro and Avery Johnson. Wilkins, one of the top scorers in NBA history, led the offensive charge with 18.2 points per game. During the season he became only the 38th player to appear in 1,000 NBA games and surpassed 26,000 points, moving into seventh place on the NBA's all-time scoring list. All the pain of the 1996-97 season went away on May 18, when the Spurs won the Lottery and drew the top pick in the 1997 NBA Draft. That assured them the rights to Duncan, a dominant collegiate star at Wake Forest. With a dynamic duo of Robinson and Duncan up front, San Antonio was expected to return to a place among the league's elite in 1997-98. www.nba.com/spurs/history/spurs_history.html

sixers still were the best team. i don't know how they lost these last 2 games. it was 93-89 in ot, and 78-77 before that so it's not as if they were blown out.
kings can show that they don't only win with webber.
nets will take pistons to 7 games.
spurs will win it all- it should be as boring as 1999 versus the knicks- the lowest scoring finals in nba history since the shot clock was invented.

Well dang, I turn around and here yall are talkin bout my GA players, I'm all late! I hope Nique is eliglibe for the hall next season,I think his last year was with the Tragic in 99. I think there is a 5 year limit after a players last season. The all stars of the 80s & 90s who didn't get a ring at least played in the Finals, Barkely,Malone, Stockton, GP and Ewing did, but Nique did not. To H to Pete Babock for sendin him off to the Clippers for Danny Manning when the Hawks were in 1st place!! I hope the Spurs do take it so former Hawks and Spartans Willis & Smitty get their ring! :crying:

i figured it was bogus that nobody posted but me when the lakers were clawing back in- but the bandwagoners jumped in when they lost. I wish I was around when you first made that statement. I would have commented on that Laker loss. And I wouldn't be riding a "bandwagon" because I acknowledged a loss. I'm not a fan of the Lakers whether they're winning or losing. And if I was riding the band wagon, I'd be a Lakers fan. Everybody in this house was rooting for the Lakers. Everybody buit me. Doesn't sound like a bandwagon to me.

See, that Top 50 was bogus. Wasn't Shaq in it? I think at that time he was only in the league for like 5 years or less.

i was a little suspicious of the 50 greatest when they included guys with little history behind them, but shaq,d.rob, and pippen have all won rings and 2 were mvp's and pippen won 6 with jordan.
