Hi, Tempts fans-
Just want to let you know that they guys will appear at State University of NY at Purchase NY.
I saw them there two years ago - had lousy seats - it was the group still with Bo and Harry, just towards the end of that lineup.
I am looking forward to seeing Joe and GC. I will give you a review.

Ok, Tempts fans, I saw the show last night. Mostly I can say that it was great. O and the group were full of energy and had the audience up and loving every minute of the show.
The costumes- not my favorites - they wore white pants and white shirts with bright yellow jackets. Not as elegant as they should be. They looked more like the Four Tops in the earlly days.
From the start, there were problems with the sound system. GC's mike was Ok but his ear piece was not connected so he could not hear the music. This happened all show long and a lot of the time he was trying to adjust his back-pack so sometimes he would stop dancing and miss a few words. At one point, during a song they even brought him out a new mike but he still had problems all night long.
They sang all of the favorites - started with The Way You do the things you do, then into Aint Too Proud to Beg, Ball of Confusion, IWish it Would Rain, Just my Imagination, Can't get Next to You, Get Ready, papa, Stay, Treat Her Like a Lady, Since I lost my Baby by Terry - more on this later - It's growing, then a medley of I'll be in trouble, Don't Lok Back, Girl's Allright With Me, Please Return your Love to Me, All I need - more on this medlley later, finishing up with My Girl and then I'M Losing You.
Let me tell you about each starting with O - he was at his best - loving every minute, working the crowd all night long, taking his applause, looking thin - he lost a lot of weight, and taking his bow with the whole audience up on its feet cheering and not stopping for at least two minutes.
Ron - in good voice - acting as the MC most of the night - looking proud and full of life.
GC - as I said, mike problems all night - and by the end of the night not looking to neat - his hair all messed up - I don't know why - and his voice strong but since he has to carry the most of the show - more on this later- by the end sounding a bit horse and worn out.
Joe - let me tell you - I saw Blu in the old days and although no one can ever be him, Joe is as close as you get. The voice strong and deep all night and you can hear him on every song. But he does not do much more than sing and just stay in his place and do the dance - but never allowed to step out and act like a star - more like just a good background bass singer.
Terry - the biggest dissappointment. He only got to do the lead one time - at the end of the show when he did Since I Lost My Baby - brilliant - beautiiful - down on his knees - the audience in love with him - then back to his mike stand and although you can hear him sing on every song and he does his own lines well, never allowed to step out as a star - just looking good but like a background singer - not like a former lead singer.
I don't understand why the whole show is carried by GC when you have Terri there and Ron. Why no more leads for Terri? Why doesn't he do more of the old Paul leads? GC is good but for those who do not know the history of the Tempts, with GC out in front all night long it is more like an oldies band doing covers of the Tempts songs.
The oldies medley was good but only if you are old enough like me to know the songs. Most of the audience could not sing along because they did not know the words.
O - well he was O all night. He talked about Legacy as the last album with Motown and started to talk about the song Mr. Fixit and how it was important for all of the men to pay attention to the words - we thought that he would be having the boys sing the song but then went on to say the Phoenix Rising was a milion seller and then how Stay sold 1.5 million copies and was number 1 for 11 weeks which is a bit of an exageration and then they sang Stay instead of Mr . Fixit.
All in all, a great night but: O, bring Terri up front again, let GC rest a bit, get Ron into more leads and let Joe up front to become a legend himself.
Tempts fans, if you have the chance, see O and the group. You will come away feeling on top of the world !!!
Props to O and keep on doing it O.

I was hoping to get more feedback on my review.
Did others see them recently where GC was carrying the whole show?
I want to hear from you and find out what you think about the group that used to call itself the group with five lead singers now basically doing the whole show with GC.
Don't get me wrong - GC was great - but what is the thinking behind keeping Terry as a background singer?
What is the thinking behind having Ron do only two songs?
Big O, that I can understand. His only solo line the whole night is on I Can't Get next to You when he sang I can Make the Seasons Change Just By Waving My Hand and the audience screamed out loud after his line - clearly the audience wanted more than one line from O.
Also, at this show, they did not come out for an encore even though the audience kept clapping?
What has happened at your shows?
Keep the thread alive - we all need to talk about the group now that it seems to be be GC all the time.

I don't know either Laceysox. I know awhile ago Terry was having voice problems but I cant hear any now. SO bring on the leads. I know I'm ready to hear them. I love me some GC but I want to hear more Terry. SILMB is indeed a showstopper!!! Joe will be singing Ole Man River soon and I know that will be amazing!!

Hi Sox, whedn I went last weekend.. it was a shared show.. GC, Ron, Terry.. Ididnt walk away thinking it was GC's.. So I dont know what was going on at your show.. But Terry does a few songs.. GCdoes a few, and Ron does a few... I just wonder if maybe someone was feeling under the weather.... .. I know about 2 weeks ago.. think... they wre passing around a cold between them.. or maybe we wore them out in AC.. because the show was amazing.. each and every one of them was soo powerful and gave it their all.. I was jusst looking at some of the pics I took and there are some amazing powerful closeups shots were you could just seee all the emotion in thier faces and gestures.. Your review has me a little concerned .. I sure hope they are all not getting a cold again... they are suppose to be recording a CD I think next week... Either way. Terry looked and sounded great in AC along with Ron and GC. Maybe they are saving Terry and Ron's voice for the CD?.. I think O knows that Terry is a showstopper.. so maybe it was just for that one night... I'll ask around and see if anyone knows whats up... ( i wonder if GCs earpiece was the one that Ron had on the 8th.. cuz Ron was having trouble with his at one point... course we shouted.. we'll fix it for ya Ron... ) There was mic problems also on the first of the 3 nights..but I didnt notice any problems with it the foloowing nights... I just love it when Ron Introduces O.. and everyone stands,, claps, shouts.. bows to him.. and he looks soo innocent with his.. *For Me?* grin... far as the bright Yellow jackets.. Ive seen pictures.. the ones they wore the first night in AC were a nice Soft pale buttery Yellow... double breasted, very very very nice.. now the encore.. at the shows in AC... after they leave the stage.. with everyone clapping.. they came back and spent about 15 -20 minutes shaking everyones hands. doing autographs. posing for pics.... makes me wonder if at your show they had to hurry for aplane somewhere. I havent checked their schedule.. just the dates that I know I can make.
I wonder if maybe it might be a contractual thing to why they havent done anything off of Legacy..ya never know what all the legal stuff is behind the scenes...

I don't know if they have added Joe to the rotation on any leads as of yet. There is no doubt that he is the best they have had at that spot in a long time. I have seen him with another group and his Old Man River will shake the roof. He is very capable of leading...........as for Terry...you're right..........he was having some voice problems but now they seem to be gone............and only O could answer why he and Ron are not featured more in the shows.................sometimes there's more than meets the eye..............but all in all it is a better, more upbeat show than those I saw at the end of the Bo/Harry run. DId they do a tribute to DAvid, Eddie and Paul?
And I'm very familiar with Purchase, New york. We used to hold training camp on the campus up there!

This is what I found out from someone who REALLY knows:
GC DOES do the majority of the lead...and SO did Bo when he was in that position....
Ron does MORE than a couple of leads.... "TWYDTTYD" "Get Ready" "JMI" "Please return your love to me" "The Girl's alright with me" starts off "Ball of confusion"......... He's up front quite a bit... If anything, it's RON and GC doing most of the leads...
Terry has been doing ONE lead for the longest time "SILMB" .... ain't nothin' new. It's better to have Terry as a "background" singer than NOT have him on stage at all...
and bring JOE up front more... That's what they PLAN to do with OLE man river.... and HOW often did you see MELVIN up front leading a song? Historically, the bass singer didn't lead many songs... Joe is doing exactly what every other bass singer did... Terry doesn't do most of the leads in the show...but on the CD'S....he's MUCHO PROMINENT!
SO theres some of the answer that you were looking for. hope that helps
