I don't know about everyone else, but even though I already have tickets for the Baltimore show, since it's apparently going to be a no-go, I'd almost rather go to the New York shows instead (I'm not crazy at all about the Baltimore venue.) Anyone else wanna make a thing of it? Mikey? Aba? Nova? Meme? Hype? Kalisa (hey, I know you can't go but I thought I'd ask anyway, don't want you to feel left out!) :-*thanks for asking, (((((Ivory)))))...I know whoever CAN make it will have a great time!! I sure did at BB's last year ;D!!! I like the venue and the guys do a really terrific show there!

Well, some people like what they like. But they also don't know what it is that they are liking. Uninformed listeners.
Anyway, that guys didn't say anything I didn't. He simply said the guy David see was gonna do splits. I said the show was awesome. I also recall saying on another thread that this guy was trying to have or has a similar sound to David. So, what do you talk? He said, what I said. Except he must actually like David Sea. But i'll tell you this, if that guy likes Dave Sea he likes him cuz of that classic sound and his Ali vocalizing. Yes, I said Ali vocalizing. I was told Bo is trying to do things like Ali, well, Bo ain't the only one. Me, I can take Dave Sea or leave him.
I personally know guys who can do exactly what Mr. Sea performed anyday of the week. They can do his entire show in a breath, so pardon me if I'm not amazed. There are many performers who can do it, but don't make it a point to do it in concert. Why? Because they don't need that gimmick. Now, I'm not saying it's not a gimmick worth having and being able to do, but it's still a gimmick.
Let's take a popular non tempt to match up with David Sea. This is just so we make it fair and do not have to pair him up with anybody else. It also broadens the scope of talent. I'd bet a dollar to your dime, everyday of the week, that Phil Perry can do the same thing on stage. The exact same thing. On a good day I'll bet he can do more. I gotta friend name Ralph Donovan, who can do it too. (I had to give him a plug.)
It's nothing that amazes me. It's another talent that I've seen people do before. But further more, I am listening for other things as well. I listen and pick things out. I judge them musically and throw them back in the pile in a place that fits them. He's no, wow. He's just another guy who what he did on stage. Now, It's great that he can do it. He's a true talent for being able to do it.
If I I'm alone I'll be that. But as alone as I might be, I know that I am informed as far as singers go. I'm no slouch, but I can't say that for everybody. So, I'll sit in my lonely corner and wait for some more, with a big grin on my face.

Cheech, I don't know what you were tuned in to,but David Sea don't sound like nobody's Woodson...especially on Wish It Would Rain,Woodson could NEVER sing the song like MR. SEA! Woodson could never sing Ain't Too Proud To Beg as good as MR. SEA. Nobody ever said that MR. SEA will do splits, just like nobody said Woodson,or Bo does splits, either. You like a lot of riffs, and seems like that's what some people think is good singing. I don't subscribe to that theory. That's not singing, that's noise. You should have been in the dressing room with Curet and myself...you would have heard some real singing then. David Sea don't sound like Woodson, don't have to...all he has to do is sound like himself and he will get HIS talents accross. Just like he did when you were there. You saw the reaction that he got....from everyone in the school....but you. And I respect you for sticking to your guns. I know that I had a gut check when Woodson replaced Dennis. I gave the man a chance, but he went to riff-o- nomics on me. In that respect,I guess I'm like Jane,,,just sing the damn song, and stop playing around. And those guys that you claim do what Mr. Sea does..........we would like to hear them...do they perform at Scotties? If they do ...let us know where we can catch them....maybe Curet and me can come and SEA for ourselves. But,think about it...and be honest...is your unwillingness to give David Sea his props due to the fact that he goes up against your favorite singers..Woodson & Bo? Is that also the reason that you refuse to give a seasoned performer like GC,his due? There's nothing wrong with that...if you admit it. If you don't,well that's on you. ;D

Nope. I like alot of riffs when it suits the singer or the song. I never said that David would do splits. I am not unwilling to give David his props. I gave him his props. I said he was a very good singer. As far as GC goes, I call it as it is. Just cuz you are seasoned don't mean you are the best. Otis is seasoned, does that mean he's the best background singer? Does it mean he's the best dancer? Heck no. At the same time you refuse give great singers who have been singing for twenty and twenty five plus years the props they should be shown? Props is props. And these singers I am refering to, I met in philly while doing some work down there. I have met on auditions. I have met in shows I've done. I've met them while they were doing club dates. Funny, how I have never heard folks of that caliber at Scotties. though, there is this one lady who still has some great blues in her, who goes to Scotties. Funny how you touched up on almost everything I said about everything except Phil Perry. Talk about Phil. See, you know what I'm talking about. Phil can do all that good stuff, but that don't make him the best. It's just stuff singers can do. You know it and I know it. Mike, you've been around the block. You've seen singers. You've seen excellent singers. You've seen singers which blow our favorites our of the water. I know have. So, in the grand scheme of things, It's all in a certain order. I'm not going to hold back and give the highest props to someone if I've seen better and know what better can do. If I know somebody is better then I'm going to call it. And no circus show, which a singer is permitted because his boss allows his to have more creative control is going to convince me one singer is better than other is he isn't. And Mike, let's get off it, Ali can sing them songs.

I'm not going to say something that I know is not so....so, I'm ON IT ! All you have to do is listen...to originals...not mimics!

Listen, they are all mimics. Whether they are doing thier own thing on those songs or not. And Ali, Bo, Dave, Bernard, Chris, Mike, Harry, Theo, Terry, and anybody else are all in the same boat. They bring thier own stuff, but they are all doing songs other people made famous. But that's something musicians do. Every musician out ther isn't playing his own stuff. People gotta gig and make money. They bring what they can and the rest is what they have to do.

Gladys Knight does other people's songs...GLADYS KNIGHT STYLE! No mimicing.
