Phil Collins To Release Ballads, Live and Rarities
Phil Collins will release a 2CD set in October featuring some rarities and previously unreleased live performances together with his best ballads.
The album 'Love Songs…" will feature 25 songs.
"This is a collection of love songs that I've either written or co-written and that I consider to be amongst my best work," says Collins, "in addition to songs that have been written and admired by me from a distance, whilst secretly wishing that I had written them! There are also some songs here that I feel extremely close to, but were missed the first time around because of circumstances beyond their control."
The album will feature a live version of his 1985 hit 'Separate Lives' as well as his Disney 'Tarzan' soundtrack hit 'You'll Be In My Heart' which earned him a Grammy, Oscar and Golden Globe.
Of the rarities, there are covers of Leonard Bernstein/Stephen Sondheim's 'Somewhere' from West Side Story, a cover of Curtis Mayfield's 'I've Been Trying,' live performances of the Temptations' 'My Girl,' Irving Berlin's 'Always,' the Jerome Kern/Dorothy Fields classic, 'The Way You Look Tonight,' and a concert soundcheck recording of 'True Colours.'
The album will also feature the previously 'Tearing and Breaking' written with Scottish singer/songwriter John Martyn 2001 but not used on the 'Testify' album.
