How about it? It was for EDDIE,not the TEMPTATIONS! Big difference. At least Otis' name is mentioned ! The people of the town must have their reason for Otis' absent ststue! And where would their opinions of Otis come from? Did they put statues of the others up? If so why not Otis? The town didn't make that decision, the family did. The town only gave them the land and decreed Eddie a hometown hero..... |

They didn't treat Melvin like that...what does that tell you? Not even the people who called Otis and told him that Woodson was badmouthing him and the group spoke up for him? Wonder why? Maybe because they moved to Philly? |

So, Aba, you mean to say that this really doesn't mean a lot? Towns usually don't "give." They prefer to "take." There must have been some amount of conviction behind that deed. And that conviction was probably that Eddie Kendricks was an accomplished artist and son of the city of whom one had many reasons to be proud of.

I consider myself to be a much bigger Temptations fan than YOU mike! I have no reason to kiss Otis butt, i admire and respect him for what he's accomplished....going through the 60's, the 70's , the 80's, the 90's up on until today without giving up his dream. Face it, he's the reason why The Temptations are still here today... you can say whatever you want about that he's only in it for the money or any ignorant comment like that but he's a true leader and performer.
Do you even like The Temptations, or was it just when Dennis was a member? No man is bigger than the group, a TRUE Temptations fan will support and love the group no matter what!......any lineup from the 60's 'til the year 2000 are The Temptations.......you sound more like a Dennis Edwards/tempts review fan than a Temptations fan dude! Stop being so bitter that The Temptations are still having so much succes and stop bitching about how Otis is messing up Dennis life. I agree with Otis that the review shouldn't be around anymore and that Dennis should have moved on from The Temptations a long time ago. I would love to see him back with the tempts but NOT with the review, stop using The Temptations name Dennis,please!. MUCH LOVE/SUPPORT/RESPECT TO OTIS,RON,TERRY,G.C. AND JOE (The Temptations). Having worked in the County Government offices for a number of years and being knowledgable on these kinds of things, it had to serve some politician for this to go through in the first place.....someone in the office championed this cause...and yes it was huge to have your home town dedicate a park in your name....once again we seem to lose sight of the point....was Otis williams a Temptation? Yes! Did they erect statues of the other Temptations in this park? Yes! Did Otis get one? No! Why? Because of some personal reason that the family did not want his statue up there. That's fine but don't expect one to do the right thing when the other is not doing it as well? I don't have all the reasons Otis was neglected in that way.....I know some of them but I mention it only to say that if I had a museum about the Temptations and left out David Ruffin's bust, would it truely be a Temptation museum? Hell no!!! I'm only saying if you put one statue up, put them all up. I would have been very comfortable with just two statues of Paul & Eddie and the rest to have plaques, but to do what they did and obviously make you know he wasn't forgotten but wasn't worthy to stand next to the rest, I didn't like. Just my opinion. |

Babe Ruth was notorius in his behavior and they way he treated his teammates and fans alike at times....Many of his exploits never made the news...but if you have a conversation about baseball, you have to include Babe Ruth. If you talk about the Temptation history, then you have to include Otis whether you like him or hate him....Putting five stautes together of men who didn't sing together as a group and leaving Otis out is a slap in his face and historically inaccurate. there is no reason anyone could justify it that wasn't personal. |

Why do idiots think Jordan was the best? Politics.Media hype.Or just plain ingornance? go ahead and shut down the guest posting board then ivory...i don't feel like coming back to this place no more anyway cause all i hear lately is negative talk about the present Temptations and Otis and thats something i don't wanna hear! I only want positive thoughts about the group/members.....former or present! And if there's someone who needs to be shut down, it's that Truth character...........cause he obviously wants The Temptations to retire. You may blame me for using foul language but don't blame me for expressing my opinion......i stand for what i say! So does everybody else on this board. You can't shut the truth down!
