:laughing :laughing :laughing I am cracking up laughing!! I shouldn't but I am. Barrington waited a long time to become a Temptation and I was sure that he wasn't going to go down without a fight. I must admire him for that. However I think the real reason why he is suing is because he knows the fate of former Tempt leads here today gone tomorrow. And none of their careers were as sucessful as when with the group. And the group seems to march on regardless of who is a member. The best Barrington will be able to do is open up for B acts or sing in small night clubs considering his name is not well known. Even as popular as Ali and Dennis were as Tempts they are not making the money that The Tempts are making on stage now because Otis is the last original member.

The truth is that lead singers who think they are the "sole" source of the Temptation legend and fame soon find out they are not.
Remember Suzanne Sommers who thought her role was the source of the success of "Three's Company" only to end up selling thigh masters.
And, as many have said, when they learn the truth, they end up suing the group for money to recoup what they lost through their foolishness.

I am not knocking Otis or anyone else, however, BUSINESS is BUSINESS as Otis well knows. If Otis and Shelly scammed Bo out of royalties and these other allegations, Bo has a perfect right to sue. I don't blame him and as far as OTIS always being right -- I don't think so. Otis is not always right contrary to popular belief. He knows the "game" but he ain't always right and it is about time that somebody handled their BUSINESS. Yeah Ivory, it is a FIRST TIME for EVERYTHING. Otis should be getting ready to retire, Bo's whole future and career are ahead of him and I do not blame him if these allegations are true for what he is doing. Our company lawyer made a statement at an all staff meeting here the other week and he was talking to the managers and I quote: "Please read the LABOR RELATIONS LAWS and the UNION CONTRACT -- people are leaving here who feel they were treated unjustly and suing and guess what - they are WINNING".... Needless to say, quite a few managers have gotten fired and those that knew they were 'dirty' have quit. Peace - I'm out... Thank you eventemp, the biggiest thing you said was it's about time for some of these guys to start taking care of their own business. I have been saying all along it ain't Otis job to watch out for these guys. It's their job. And Otis IS NOT ALWAYS RIGHT is a correct statement. He just holds all the cards cause he took CARE OF HIS BUSINESS!!!!! If Bo is owed anything I hope he gets it.

Good For Bo! Everyone deserves their day in court! Something must be going on with the Funds! Didn't anyone else find it odd that when Otis sued Dennis Edwards it was only for Otis & the Estate of David English(aka Melvin Franklin)? What about the Estates of David Ruffin, Eddie Kendrick, and Paul Williams? "Temptations Forever!"

What about the Estates of David Ruffin, Eddie Kendrick, and Paul Williams? "Temptations Forever!" Otis and Melvin made a settlement with Motown Records in the nineties for whatever they felt they were owed and Motown paid them. I don't know who represented the estates of David Eddie and Paul in the settlement or if they were even involved but Melvin was alive to settle his won deal so thet's why it was Otis and Melvin. And Otis bought out the wife of the Late Melvin Franklin so it is all his now.

This suit was recent; within the last year. Otis sued Dennis over the Name of His Group! Could it have been in court That Long?

Eddie and David could have done the same thing but did not. The suit you speak of is after the fact when Otis had allready won the rights to be sole owner of the Name Temptations and therefore had the right to stop anybody else from using it. He won that right leagally in a court of law and now he is being villified for protecting it.

Bo is not on the same level as Dennis,or David, or Eddie...they made names for themselves. Bo didn't As far as the group marching on.... They are more imitating as ever. Can't keep a member...further weakening the product. People are getting tired of the revolving door...this is why the group gets overlooked as far as awards and tributes go,the members you see now ....are NOT the members that people think about when it comes to awards!

TEMPTED TO SUE: Former Temptations singer files lawsuit. Barrington Henderson (Oct. 16, 2003) *Another former Temptation is on the warpath, and that path leads all the way to court. On Tuesday former group member Barrington Henderson sued the group, its label and group founder Otis Williams for allegedly failing to pay millions of dollars in royalties owed him, his lawyer said. Henderson, who was one of the group's lead singers for five years until he was fired in June, claims in the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, he never received royalties for two albums, including "Awesome," and "Ear-resistible." The lawsuit also alleges the Temptations, dubbed the "Emperors of Soul" and one of the top acts to emerge from Motown in the 1960s, continues to use Henderson's image and voice on merchandise, advertising and a group Web site to further their own success and make money. According to his lawyer, Brian Glicker, Henderson was fired in June despite promises he would continue to be the lead singer of the band. However I think the real reason why he is suing is because he knows the fate of former Tempt leads here today gone tomorrow.I think you're on to something there Kim. temptsinfo.com/smilies/wtg.gif And Otis IS NOT ALWAYS RIGHT is a correct statement. Come on now Aba, you know that world as much as I do. In the past we had Dukes and Earls and whatever they said was how things went. People would step and fetch if it meant that they'd be in better favor with the king than the next person. Well, we don't have kings and princes today, but we have superstars and they snap their fingers and five folks start running around to make sure it happens. They've got their own set of rules and their own way of doing things. So yeah, Otis is always right. I'm not saying that's how it should be, I'm saying that's how it IS. What about the Estates of David Ruffin, Eddie Kendrick, and Paul Williams? Winetender, Otis and Melvin's estate sued Dennis because the use of the Tempts' trademark (name) was in question. Otis and Melvin's estate are the owners (kinda) of that name, David and Eddie were never a party to that, at least not legally ................ or what Aba said. (I think we recently had a whole thread about this, I'll have to find it for you.)

I'll let You know about the show in A.C. Since it's only 35 min. away, I was going to go to see how the newer members compare to "The Classic Five". I prefer The Originals, but have never seen the new ones! I'll call the box office in the A.M. BTW, Feb.14,2004, The Temptations Revue with Dennis Edwards, Ollie Woodson, & Barrington Henderson will open in Baltimore. Good luck with the upcoming A.C. shows. I'm definitely onto the Valentines' Day Show. I'd even pay for a ticket to that show......as opposed to using a free one!
