I do resent him using the name Dennis fought long and hard and spent major money getting the right to use.
But he's not doing that any more, right?
Richard thanked Otis for checking on him when he was sick,

Mike...I have no "sympathy" in regards to them doggin' each other out. But I do not wish any illness or bad fortune on any of them. Their inter-personal and business problems are between them. I also understand to a degree how difficult it must be to have been part of the biggest group in he world, and come out and find out nobody knows your name  To me, that little statement about Richard and HOF would be akin to Daryl Hall and John Oates advertising "They were with the Temptations when they were inducted into the HOF". THEY WERE RIGHT THERE, yes they were!!  . Were they, or Richard, inducted with the Temptations??? Nope, we know that. But a casual non nit-picky reader might not understand the fine print. Kim...you may well be right. |

A finer point, as you know  , Ivory. Dennis has the rights to use the name The Temptations Review featuring Dennis Edwards. He got many a show cancelled and major lawsuit for calling himself simply Temptations Review. |

Hope this helps with the timeline of the group from Richard on am basing this on times i've seen group and notes from others....
88-late 92 Otis, Melvin, Ron, Ali, Richard
Ali returned replacing Dennis
Late 92-95 Otis, Melvin, Ron, Ali, Theo
was at the new years eve concert Dec 31 1992 Theo was introduced as brand new Temp
Late 94-Early 95 Otis, Theo, Ron, Ali
group performs with only 4 members due to Melvin illness
Early 95- Early 96 Otis, Ron, Ali, Theo, Ray
Ray joins group in March-April replacing Melvin due to his passing
Late 95- Early 96 Otis, Ron, Theo, Ali
group performs with only 4 members due to Ray illness
Early 96 Otis, Ron, Theo, Ali, Harry
Harry joins replacing Ray
Mid 96-97 Otis, Ron, Harry, Theo
Group performs with four members due to Ali leaving
Early 97-Early 98 Otis, Ron, Theo, Harry, Terry
Terry joins group
Mid 98 Otis, Ron, Terry, Harry
Group is foursome again for very short time with Theo leaving during Phoenix recording
Mid 98- Present Otis, Ron, Terry, Harry, Bo
Bo Joins group

To add on Theo joining forgot that in addition to performing and being introduced as the newest Temp on Dec 31 1992. Theo was also on the morning local news show with the group that morning and was asked what it was like being the new guy. He was with the group every time i saw them after that till he left in 98

It has been written at various times that David Ruffin and/or Richard Street was a cousin of Melvin Franklin's.
However, other sources have said neither relationship is so. A thought which is verified by the Harrah's video when Richard says he knew Melvin and Otis in high school and that they formed the Distants. Richard did NOT say he was a cousin of Melvin's. Nor did Melvin add, "I am a cousin of Richard's."
If Richard had been a cousin of Melvin's, it stands to reason that they might have sung together way before Otis met either one. The three were close friends.

I hadn't heard the Ruffin cousin story but I had heard the Richard story. Your story makes sense also when you think about it.

Guest, I've heard that Melvin had a habit of adopting people as cousins, but, if I'm remebering what I've been told correctly, Richard and Melvin WERE cousins, but they were like 14th cousins 8 times removed, or something like that. ............... or that might have been David. I do have an interview (on an LP) where the narrator (or it might have been Richard) mentions Melvin and Richard being little boys, staying at one another's house and laying in bed together singing. Sounds kinda corn ball, but that's what the interview says. Anyway, like I said, Melvin kinda adopted folks which is why I'm always making the joke, "Melvin was my cousin and he's your cousin too! Melvin's everyone's cousin. He's the great link that ties all man-kind together." |

according to page ten of my cd booklet from the anthology series of the best of the temptations, it lists
richard street as 1971-1993, with theo peoples as 1993
joining the group. so it would be believable for 12/31/92
as that is as close as you get to 1993 but for 1 day off.

Ok time for corny question hour...Is the reporter the onerefering to it as the "Tempts review"... "Come see the Tempts review....blah blah blah.." or is Richard calling it... the "Legendary Temptations Show"??
