QUESTION: Did he leave or was he fired? Aba, the answer to your question is "yes."

What is he claiming to have happened to Melvin that was so wrong. The man was sick for years and it got worse and worse. It was no secret. The fact the he was able to stay as long as he did is a miracle. If O did anything wrong it was not forcing Melvin to go into the hospital before he had the final breakdown. But how could he have known when that would happen. If you believe the book he says he did not know how bad i t had gotten until they were recording For Lover's Only and he saw the blood running down Melvin's leg. So why didn't Richard do something? What treatment of Melvin? Tell me that?

Ivory....as I said, my assumption/theory was definitely wrong because Richard is apparently billing himself as 1971-1995 today, as you can see from the ad I found. It evidently was no reporter error.

I find the "part of the group when it was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1989" interesting also. Technically correct but giving the wrong impression. It could also have read "He was there when ..." Also true. Also misleading. Kinda like O's group using Classic 5 material in their audio ads :-P . I don't begrudge Richard a living at all. He was a Temptation for many many years. How many? hahahah. I do resent him using the name Dennis fought long and hard and spent major money getting the right to use. (we all know where my loyalties lay )

See I thought that I was right about that Kalisa!!! I told Mike that I remembered Dennis and Richard had beef and it was concerning who had the right to use the name. I remember reading it somewhere but I couldn't find the web page it had expired. Kalisa didn't Dennis sue Richard? I figured something was going on between them because when he was sick he sent thanks to Ali, Ron and Otis for checking on him but he didn't mention Dennis at all.

Kim...I don't know if Dennis has sued Richard. The fact that this concert series is in Australia probably makes this particular instance untouchable legally.
when he was sick he sent thanks to Ali, Ron and Otis for checking on him but he didn't mention Dennis at all.
What makes that double-odd to me was that I saw him (with my own eyes) spending time with Dennis immediately (within a week) after being released from the hospital.

Kalisa I think that's pretty jacked up that you can use a name and get away with it just because you are in another country. I wonder why would Richard dog Dennis out like that? I also wonder why he didn't acknowlege Dennis I was under the impression they weren't speaking to one another.

Kim...on that I don't really agree, just on principal. We in the US, and foreigners who are here, are governed by our laws. Australians and visitors to their country are governed by their laws. As it should be.
That said...yah, its pretty jacked up for Richard to do it.
I saw Richard with Dennis on perfectly friendly terms a year and a half ago. I have no idea what may have transpired between them since.

Oh well Kalisa I think that we probably never really know the truth about what transpired between the two because everyones interpretation of it will be different. I just hope it was an oversight and that they don't have beef but I read something that said Dennis was trying to stop Richard from using the same name so Richard might have gotten upset about that. Have you talked to Richard recently?

Kim I'm surprised too about Dennis and Richard. But that's not the first time Richard tried to "dog " Dennis out ! I'm glad K2 saw them in a positive light !

Mike...at the time I saw him, as I said, he was just out of the hospital...and I and the others with me including members of the Review, all said "That may well be the last we'll be seeing Richard"...he was THAT ill.
Thankfully, he has fully recovered his health and is touring again.

Kalisa,Richard's 100% right he was "A PART OF THE GROUP WHEN IT WAS INDUCTED INTO THE ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME" ,not part of the group THAT WAS inducted! ;D I have NO sympathy for Richard! He now knows how it feels when you "fall out of favor". He didn't have nice things to say about Dennis when he left . Now it is Richard in that same boat as Dennis was .The chickens have come home to roost !

My opinion is (and of course this is just speculation) that Richard became disillusioned(sp) when he wasn't inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Afterall he had been a member for over 15 years and he probably felt that since he won a grammy award with the group that he should have been inducted along with the other 6.
